Sunday, August 25, 2024 In the spring of 2024, Hainan’s Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television, and Sports launched a global event, the “Hainan Tourism & Cultural Excellence Top 10,” which received extensive media coverage and enthusiastic global support. Among the top ten attractions featured in this prestigious list are Ling Shui’s Boundary Island, Yalong Bay in Sanya, and Daner Zhuiguang Station in Danzhou. The event saw the publication of 96 posts on Facebook, showcasing Hainan’s most captivating spots and experiences for travelers. These included the scenic coastal road, marine adventures, duty-free shopping, wellness retreats, rural experiences, tropical rainforests, and intangible cultural heritage. The campaign successfully highlighted Hainan’s tourism appeal to a global audience, particularly in the 59 visa-exempt countries, with positive feedback from users in the United States, France, and Spain.



After six months of recommendations and voting, the “Hainan Tourism & Cultural Excellence Top 10” list was revealed. The selected attractions include: Additionally, certain regional experiences have garnered international attention. These include the annual China International Consumer Products Expo, which showcases top global products, the Nanhai Museum highlighting the ancient Maritime Silk Road, and Hainan’s famous local dishes such as Wenchang chicken, Hainan rice noodles, Hainan-style mooncakes, and Ling Shui bitter rice noodles.

The Seven Fairy-Lady Mountain in Baoting, known for its rainforest and natural hot springs, also stood out as a wellness destination. As China’s largest free trade port and its only tropical island province, Hainan boasts 68 exclusive bays, over 4,400 square kilometers of national tropical rainforest parks, and a rich ethnic cultural heritage that dates back over 3,000 years. These elements make Hainan a distinctive tourist attraction and a cultural symbol.

Hainan is accessible with numerous international flights and offers visa-free entry for visitors from 59 countries, as well as registered tour groups from Hong Kong and Macau for up to 144 hours. The island also features a unique coastal scenic road and a high-speed railway, and is home to one of the world’s largest duty-free shopping centers, making it a top destination for such shopping in Asia..
