The Hamptons, as you may know, is a posh area of Long Island that is a summer haven for the fabulous and affluent. From Martha Stewart to Beyoncé , Sarah Jessica Parker to Madonna , the seasonal residents read like an IMDB page for a blockbuster hit. Sure, it is lovely, but mention Long Island in any other context and you may receive a more reserved reaction.

Regardless, there's so much to love about the Atlantic shores, with the sparkling green, cool waters and fine sand beaches (in contrast to the more picturesque yet far rockier beaches of the Italian Riviera.) Personally, I've mostly camped south at Fire Island , but I've wondered what one would wear should one receive an invite to a summer rental bash or upscale soirée. Dressing for the Hamptons combines American coastal prep and quiet luxury.

There is never a logo in sight, designer or otherwise. As soon as you leave the metro area, the black garb of city dwellers is shed and, as if by portal rather than bridge or tunnel, transformed into a linen set or floral frock. So, if you'd like to dress for the Hamptons (like a celebrity or otherwise), scroll on for the best pieces to shop now.

The vibe is infinitely more wearable — and, thanks to Labor Day sales, affordable — than you'd expect, and people may assume you're from old money. Your secret is safe with me. This day-to-night dress is perfect for strolling oceanside or eating dinner al fresco.

It also comes in pale blue or black. $178 $145 Do not snooze on the incredible coastal, vintage-inspired pieces priced closer to Gap than Doên. This dainty eyelet dress also comes in white .

$158 Summer calls for easy dressing, and matching sets are the simplest way to look polished. $278 There are exceptions to the no-logo rule, like this Ralph Lauren sweatshirt Jennifer Lopez wore while bicycling last month. The classic American designer is consummate Hamptons, and Lopez posted more than once in the brand's clothing.

$265 Khakis match nearly any top. Wear a wide-leg pair with a floral blouse like Jennifer Lopez did last month while in the Hamptons. $178 Elegant florals are definitely in while in the Hamptons.

$40 Effortless dressing is a must, like this vest and short set, which one review calls "perfect." It's available in nearly 20 colors. $49 The shirring and high neck make this sheer top perfect for the Hamptons' low-key styles.

Pair it with a skirt or denim. $85 $34 Beyoncé 's post from June of her Hamptons vacation with Jay-Z and their fam will forever give the frilly white summer dress inspo. $250 A timeless black dress is your go-to for any party invites or cocktail meetups.

$175 Blue and white stripes are popular in the Hamptons and coastal towns along the East Coast. Gwyneth Paltrow wore a G.Label by Goop one a few weeks ago, but you can score an organic cotton one for less.

$70 Throw a skirt on over a chic bathing suit and go straight to lunch. $35 Travel light with a statement day-to-night bodysuit in on-trend crochet. $50 While you may want to dress with intention, throwing on tried and true basics is standard at the beach, like Emma Roberts in leopard print gym shorts , a black tank and a gray sweater carrying a Nili Lotan shopping bag last summer.

The fashionable print seems to be one of the actress' favorites. $20 If you fancy a Ralph Lauren bag like Roberts', the timeless black leather style will always elevate an outfit. $2,445 Don't shy away from having a little tropical-inspired fun.

Shop the matching skirt , too, while on sale. $140 $56 RELATED CONTENT: Style Style Best Lists Sales & Deals Sales & Deals.
