Vadodara: A city-based organization has approached the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) demanding that the suspended in-charge chief fire officer be investigated for disproportionate assets . Parth Brahmbhatt, the in-charge chief of Vadodara Fire & Emergency Services (VFES), was suspended on Monday after he allegedly thrashed a fireman who was called for flood duties. The fireman was also suspended.

The organization, Vishwamitri Bachao Samiti , alleged that the fire department had sought money for issuing no-objection certificates for insurance claims. Advocate Shailesh Amin from the organisation alleged that after establishments were sealed following the game zone tragedy in Rajkot and the Takshashila incident in Surat, there were complaints that money was sought to open the seals. Amin also named two middlemen in his complaints.

He claimed that he had sought details of the assets declared by Brahmbhatt when he joined duties but received a reply stating that these were not available. He also questioned the Vadodara Municipal Corporation's (VMC) decision to make a doctor the head of the fire department. Amin sought that those who were defending Brahmbhatt should also be probed.
