Aaron Rodgers trolls his critics with perfect training camp t-shirt after Jets absence drama over Egypt trip READ MORE: Rodgers blames Jets absence drama on 'deceiving' language READ MORE: Rodgers breaks silence on 'beautiful' trip to Egypt By Jake Nisse Published: 16:59 EDT, 23 July 2024 | Updated: 17:06 EDT, 23 July 2024 e-mail View comments Aaron Rodgers has fired back at his critics with a perfect t-shirt following the controversy of his 'unexcused' absences from Jets minicamp. Rodgers missed both days of a team minicamp last month for a personal trip, with the quarterback confirming last week that he had travelled to Egypt . And the 40-year-old made quite the statement on Tuesday as he showed up to Jets training camp wearing a t-shirt with an Egyptian cat on it.

The Jets took a photo of their quarterback as he approached the team facility with a smirk on his face. While Rodgers described his trip to Egypt as 'beautiful,' he ruffled some feathers initially after coach Robert Saleh said his absence was 'unexcused.' Aaron Rodgers hilariously wore a t-shirt with an Egyptian cat on it on his way to training camp Rodgers skipped the team's mandatory minicamp in June, a move that sparked controversy Read More Aaron Rodgers drops retirement hint as he outlines NFL exit plan The minicamp is considered mandatory, though it comes after 10 voluntary OTAs (the Jets only held nine after Saleh canceled the final day, but Rodgers attended all of them).

As Rodgers said this week on Barstool's 'Pardon My Take' podcast , the minicamp is structured similarly to OTAs, and he complained about how a 'deceiving' narrative was spread after his absences. 'This is the 'minicamp week,' which makes it more mandatory than other weeks, but it's an OTAs schedule,' he began. 'That's how words can be a little deceiving.

They can make a story about how I missed minicamp when it was really two OTA days. I came to the first 10.' At a different point on 'Pardon My Take,' the 40-year-old passer was asked about when he may retire.

Rodgers smokes a cigar at the 13th hole on day three of the 2024 American Century Championship He missed essentially all of last season after suffering an Achilles tear in Week 1, and had a down year (by his standards) in 2022 with Green Bay. That year, the quarterback threw 12 interceptions - his most since his first year as a starter in 2008 - as the Packers went just 8-9 and missed the playoffs. 'I don't know, I'm not sure,' he said when asked how many more years he has left in the NFL.

'This one for sure. 'I wanted to do two good ones to give us a chance to retire a Jet and win two Super Bowls.' Rodgers and the Jets open their season at the 49ers on September 9.
