Pune: Aam Aadmi Party's preparations for the state poll that were facing hurdles after party chief Arvind Kejriwal ’s imprisonment, are now buoyed after the party’s second-in-command Manish Sisodia was released released from jail. They hope the senior leader will revive the party's campaign in the state. AAP began preparations last year to make some inroads in the assembly poll with Kejriwal’s visit to the state after it became an ally in the INDIA bloc.

The party also carried out ‘Swarajya Yatra’ to reach out to voters. A senior AAP member said the arrests of Sisodia and later Kejriwal by the central agencies impacted the party as both decision-makers were behind bars. “Kejriwal's arrest was right in the middle of the Lok Sabha campaign due to which most of our members had to concentrate in North India, particularly Delhi and Punjab, where our candidates were contesting.



Not much attention could be given to Maharashtra, and now the party is running against time for the assembly poll,” he added. According to other AAP members, they have a list of aspirants who wish to contest the poll on the party's ticket. Another AAP member said it was a big relief for the party when Sisodia walked out of jail.

“We are hopeful that he will help the party's preparedness in Maharashtra before the assembly poll. We will send a list of aspirants to the central team. We are looking at some candidates for the poll,” the member added.
