A number of motorists have recently been penalised for driving too fast on a major road into Bolton . St Peters Way on the A666 goes from the M60 ring road into the town centre. It is governed by a 50mph speed limit which is well signposted.

The speed of drivers is monitored by average speed cameras. The cameras capture the time it takes the distance it takes a motorist to go between two points and therefore check to see if the average speed is above the 50mph limit. Here are the people who have recently been in court for going too fast on the road.



Mustafa Azad went at 59mph between Bradford Street and Raikes Lane. The 32-year-old carried out the offence while driving a BMW in a southbound direction in October last year. The case against Azad, from Market Street, Hyde, Tameside, was proved at Manchester Magistrates Court.

Following this he was fined £90 and given three points on his licence. Jonathan Getliffe went at 57mph between Bradford Street and Raikes Lane. The 34-year-old carried out the offence while driving an Audi southbound in October last year.

The case against him was proved at Manchester Magistrates Court. Following this Getliffe, from Manchester Road, Worsley, Salford, was fined £220 and given three points on his licence. The 39-year-old carried out the offence while driving south in October last year. The case against him was proved at Manchester Magistrates Court. Following this David, from Geneva Road, Stockport, was fined £220 and given three points on his licence.

Ruth Pitchford drove at 58mph between Bradford Street and Raikes Lane while driving a Volkswagen southbound in October last year. The 26-year-old admitted the offence at Tameside Magistrates Court. Following this Pitchford, from Hillside Avenue, Farnworth , was fined £70 and given three points on her licence.
