We have more newsletters Show Me No thanks, close See our Privacy Notice Traffic diversion routes are in place in Norfolk after a 'serious' crash shut a major A-road in the county in the early hours of Saturday (August 17). Police and other emergency services are at the scene on the A47 between Acle and Great Yarmouth, with the road closed to traffic in both directions as a result. National Highways said the closure is expected to remain in place throughout the night.

The closure was first reported at around 12.30am. A National Highways spokesperson said: "The A47 in Norfolk is closed in both directions between A1064 (near Acle) and A149 (near Great Yarmouth) due to a serious collision.

Norfolk Police are leading a multi-agency response to this collision with the road remaining closed throughout the night." Drivers are being advised to factor extra time into their journeys.

Road users are advised to follow the below diversion if heading eastbound: At Acle roundabout take the second exit and continue on A1064 through Billockby, Fleggburgh and Filby to A149 roundabout at Caister on Sea. At the roundabout take the second exit onto the A149 through Caister and re-join the A47 Runham roundabout. Road users are advised to follow the below diversion if heading westbound: At Runham roundabout take the A47 south to the A143 Beccles Interchange.

At the traffic light controlled junction turn right on to the A143. Continue on the A143 through Bradwell, Fritton, Haddiscoe and Toft Monks. At the A143/A146 roundabout take the third exit onto the A143.

At the next roundabout take the second exit and continue on the A146 through Stockton, Loddon, and Thurton. Re-join the A47 at Trowse Interchange. Story Saved You can find this story in My Bookmarks.
