Most of us look forward to the relief brought in by the monsoons — the fragrance of rain on parched earth, the lush trees and the coolness of the breeze. However, the monsoons, like every other season, bring its share of skin and hair problems. But with a little care, you can have a glowing complexion and fabulous hair! For instance, to reduce the oiliness and stickiness of skin during the rains, try an antiseptic tonic which can work wonders for every skin type, especially, the oily and acne-prone skin.

To make it, take 100ml of rose water and half a teaspoon of powdered camphor. Dissolve and store in a bottle and keep in the fridge. Wipe your skin with this every time you come from outdoors.

To fight acne, take two teaspoons of fuller’s earth, a pinch of camphor and two drops of clove oil. Mix this with rose water and apply it to the pimples. Let it dry and wash off with cold water.

Be careful when using clove oil as even a little extra in quantity may burn the skin. You can opt for another face pack to fight pimples by using two teaspoons of fuller’s earth, two drops of clove oil, one teaspoon of sandalwood powder, and one teaspoon finely ground neem paste. Make a thick paste and apply on the pimples.

Let it dry, then wash. Don’t forget to drink 10 glasses of water daily to flush out toxins for a naturally radiant skin. Those with dry skin, will not suffer much during rains as humidity hydrates the skin and gives it a natural glow.

However, to keep that skin glowing, take one glass of rainwater and mix a teaspoon of honey into it. Massage into the skin and then wash with cold water after 30 minutes for that extra glow. Hairfall during the monsoon is quite common.

Make this hair pack that will help strengthen and promote their growth: take half a cup of honey, 100ml of almond oil, and 100ml of ground marjoram tea leaves. Mix together and apply to the scalp, leaving for an hour. Afterwards, wash with a mild shampoo.

If you have dull and lifeless hair, take 20 crushed hibiscus leaves and three teaspoons of mint paste. Add lemon juice and mix it. Apply to the scalp for 30 minutes and later wash with a mild citrus-based shampoo for best results.

While taking note of such beauty tips, don’t forget to enjoy the rain. You will sail through all the sticky problems of this humid season with a little precaution that will leave you with stunning skin and sensational-looking hair..
