Season 2 of may have left our screens a lot sooner than we would have liked (the series finale aired on August 4), so imagine our shock when we learnt that the third season of the hit HBO show is set to premiere in the summer of 2026. While two years may be a lengthy amount of time to find out how the war in Westeros will unfold, fans will be happy to know that we'll be seeing a lot more from the fictional continent prior to the release of . Another prequel to is set to be added to the collection of spin-offs.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will follow a knight named Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire, Egg, which derived from George R. R. Martin's novel series A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms.



Although news of the series may be fresh, rumours of the show have been known since 2021, as reported by . As per logline, the plot line is as follows: 'A century before the events of 'Game of Thrones,' two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros..

. a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg. Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne, and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.

' As George R. R. Martin will serve as a writer and executive producer on the series, it has been thought that the plot and nuances of the show will closely follow the original writing of the books.

In April 2024, it was revealed that the Vikings Valhalla actor Peter Claffey will take the lead role of Ser Duncan or Dunk, and will star in the series alongside Dexter Sol Ansell, who will play Egg. Ansell is best known for his role as the young Coriolanus Snow in The Hunger Games: The Ballad Of Songbirds & Snakes and as Little Dan in Sky's Robin And The Hoods. Other cast members will include Bertie Carvel as Baelor Targaryen, Finn Bennett as Aerion Targaryen, Tanzyn Crawford as Tanselle, Daniel Ings as Ser Lyonel Baratheon, and am Spruell as Maekar Targaryen.

The exact premiere date of A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms is yet to be confirmed, however, during Warner Bros. Discovery's upfront presentation, HBO boss Casey Bloys that the series will be released in 2025. It was also stated that the production of the show is well underway in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

The debut series will contain six episodes, three of which will will be directed by Sarah Adina Smith, who has previously directed , Hanna and Buster's Mal Heart. Owen Harris will also direct three episodes, his previous directing credits include and Misfits. Like it's Westeros related counterparts, fans will most likely be able to watch the show on Sky or HBO.

As it currently stands, there is no trailer of the upcoming series, however, HBO have released a reel of upcoming HBO shows in 2024 and 2025. A snippet of A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms can be seen from around 1.10.
