Pune: The district administration has cleared 997 complaints out of 1,054 reported violations of the model code of conduct through the Election Commission of India 's (ECI) cVIGIL app since Oct 15, nodal grievance cell coordinating officer Jyoti Kawre told TOI on Monday. The app is designed to register and track code of conduct violations ahead of the upcoming state assembly election . The maximum number of complaints were against posters and banners that violated the code, Kawre said, adding, "Around 74% of complaints were of this category, followed by others regarding use of vehicles or convoys without permissions, posters without mandatory declarations, use of speakers beyond permitted time and freebies.
These were all part of complaints registered across Pune district's 21 assembly constituencies." A dedicated cVIGIL cell at the district level oversees these complaints. Officials highlighted that out of the 997 resolved complaints, 945 were processed within the first 100 minutes.
At least 57 other complaints were dismissed after review by election officers. Kawre further said, "ECI aims to ensure strict adherence to the model code of conduct for peaceful and fair elections. The cVIGIL system has proven highly efficient, with 95% of valid complaints being resolved within the targeted 100-minute window.
