American singer-songwriter Matthew Sweet suffered a debilitating stroke while on tour in Toronto Oct.12. Russell Carter, Sweet’s manager, said Wednesday that he was transported to Toronto Western Hospital “where he was put into excellent care and taken out of immediate danger,” according to CTV News .
Catherine Lyons, Sweet’s representative via Russell Carter Artist Management, launched a crowdfunding campaign to help raise the funds required to tend to the artist’s mounting medical needs . His hit singles “Time Capsule” and “Sick of Myself,” quickly became fan-favorites. His tour was his main source of income, according to Carter, and it all came to a grinding halt when he suffered the stroke . Lyons appealed to the public for assistance by launching a GoFundMe page.
