Prayagraj : Cops have drafted a fresh plan, taking as many as 18 pockets of Sangam city under their scanner where licensed firecracker storage units are located. Moreover, senior cops have also constituted eight teams comprising officials from the fire department to check stock registers and the implementation of fire safety norms . These teams have also been asked to conduct a series of raids to check illegal storage or manufacturing in the district.

Chief Fire Officer (Prayagraj) RK Pandey told TOI, "All the licensed firecracker storage units located in Naini, Meja, Handia, Phulpur, and Mauaima are under scanner for stocking firecracker materials." He further added, "Joint teams of police and district administration have also been instructed to verify stocks and implement security norms ahead of Diwali." The CFO, meanwhile, said, "In view of the festival of light and crackers, all station house officers (SHOs) have been asked to be alert round the clock and ensure that there should are no illegal storage or manufacturing of firecrackers in their respective areas.
