पुरानी कार स्क्रैप कराएं और नई गाड़ी खरीदने पर बंपर छूट पाएं! दिल्ली वालों की बल्ले-बल्ले NEW DELHI: The city govt has deregistered over 59 lakh vehicles as of this Sept, targeting diesel vehicles more than 10 years old and petrol vehicles that have exceeded 15 years of usage. Among the deregistered vehicles , two-wheelers have the largest share. Of these 59 lakh vehicles, 39 lakh are two-wheelers and 18 lakh four-wheelers.

The number of goods and passenger vehicles deregistered stand at 60,000 and the remaining 1.4 lakh comprise other types of vehicles (ambulances, tractors, fire tenders, maxi cabs, crane-mounted vehicles and three-wheelers), according to data shared by the transport department . Currently, Delhi has 82 lakh active vehicles.



The exercise to start deregistering vehicles picked up pace after Supreme Court in 2018 directed the transport departments of NCR to enforce the NGT order for deregistering overaged vehicles. The first major push came on Jan 1, 2022, when govt deregistered all diesel vehicles which had completed 10 years.
