Let's work together to keep the conversation civil. Now Reading: 01 /6 Sudha Murty Member of Rajya Sabha, Founder-Chairperson of Infosys Foundation, philanthropist, author, Sudha Murty is an inspiration to many. She often writes about her life experiences and lessons she has learnt from them, which are relatable to many.

Here we list down some of Sudha Murty's tips for happiness in life and marriage. 02 /6 Be kind and helpful to others, it brings joy and blessings In a social media post, Sudha Murty shared a lesson in kindness that she learned from her grandparents early on in life. Recalling a childhood memory, Sudha Murty shared that her grandparents used to grow two types of rice in their fields.

Of these, good quality rice was given to the poor during the day, while they used to eat red rice at night. When she asked them why the good rice was given to the poor, her grandmother told her that God comes in the form of people who ask and the needy, and so one must help them. This lesson in kindness is a reminder to all that one sows what they reap.

And so, one should be kind and helpful to others. Also, practising kindness brings joy and happiness. As Sudha Murty wrote in her book 'Grandma's Bag of Stories', “We should always have some aim in life which we must try to achieve while being of help to others.

” 03 /6 Lead a simple life “If you are simple, life will be easy. More the expectations from life, greater will be the disappointments,” Sudha Murty once told school children at an event in Bangalore. However, this advice is equally important for adults too.

Elaborating it further, she said that one's needs alway keep increasing. And so to be happy in life, one needs to be content and let go of things to keep stress at bay. “During childhood, the goal is to get an A+, then it is to get into a good college, and then it is to find your dream job.

And then your goal changes to finding a perfect partner. There is no end to this list. But what you can do is be happy amidst all of it.

.. Be it financial, emotional, or psychological; difficulties are a part and parcel of life.

I move on thinking that this too shall pass," Sudha Murty said at the event, as reported by The New Indian Express. 04 /6 Secret to a happy marriage: Accept each other's strengths and weaknesses Sharing her secret to a happy marriage, Sudha Murty once shared that one should accept thei partner as they are, which includes their strengths and weaknesses, and work together as a couple. "There are no perfect couples in this world.

Life is a give and take. He comes along with his plus and minus, and I have my own plus and minus," Mrs Murty said at India Today Conclave 2024. And so, to have a happy marriage one needs to understand and accept their partner and work together as a team.

05 /6 Mantra for resolving conflicts in a marriage Talking about resolving conflicts in a marriage, Sudha Murty said at India Today Conclave 2024, "When you are married, you are bound to fight. Accept that. If you have never fought, then you are not husband and wife.

When you fight, and one person is upset, the second should be cool, and should not open their mouth.” Citing her and Narayan Murthy's example, Mrs Murty further said, "When Murthy is angry, I will never talk. Let him pour out.

I will not talk. When I am angry, he keeps quiet. In real life, I keep quiet most of the time.

You should never get upset together because that is the recipe for further fights." 06 /6 Live life on your own terms “If you try to please everyone, you will please no one. It is impossible to lead your life for others’ happiness,” Sudha Murty wrote in her book 'Wise & Otherwise', and rightly so.

One should live life on their own terms and for their own happiness, as one can not always please others. Bowed down by weight!
