The Journal Times will recognize the accomplishments of five high school wrestlers from our coverage area each week. The efforts may not be the greatest statistically but are notable. We then invite readers to vote for the Supernova, the performance that most stood out to you.

Here are this week’s honorees. Dummer This senior for Union Grove continues to build on his junior season when he finished third at 144 pounds at the WIAA Division 1 state tournament. Dummer is off to a 20-1 start at 157 pounds, with his only loss coming on a 3-2 decision to Declan Koch of Neenah at the Gunslinger Tournament on Dec.



7. Koch placed second at 138 pounds at the state tournament last season and is ranked first at 157 pounds this season by Wisconsin High School Wrestling. Dummer, who plans to wrestle for Division III Augsburg in Minnesota starting this fall, is ranked fifth.

“Even in that match to Declan Cook, the No. 1 kid at 157, it was a 3-2 match, so he has been in every single match,” Union Grove coach Andy Weis said. “And he’s not just winning.

He’s relaxed, he knows exactly what he wants to do and he’s just very confident with that. He has a relaxed and very confident way of wrestling. It’s been a lot of fun to watch him so far this year.
