It will take a ‘miracle’ for a multi-million-dollar hangar construction project to open in the next two months, sources close to the development said. But when it does, employment figures for COMO Laucala Island will increase. The tourism operator’s Nadi project has had many “Coming Soon” opening dates since its stop-start construction history.
While the resort’s Nadi International Airport luxury lounge was open, COMO Laucala Island’s hangar was scheduled to open before the end the year. The completion of the hangar at Nadi airport would allow a seamless experience for guests transferring to and from Kokomo Private Island. “Guests arriving on international flights, will continue to be greeted at the information desk inside the arrivals hall, before being transferred directly to our new luxury lounge, where they will find refreshments, entertainment, a playroom for families, as well as shower facilities to refresh after long-haul flights,” COMO Laucala Island said.
“On departure, guests will again be able to enjoy the benefits of the luxury lounge while waiting for their connecting flight out of Fiji.” The delay in opening the hangar was partly owed to a ‘wrong mix of concrete’ on the connecting apron that had to be dug up and replaced, SunBiz was reliably informed. The tourism property has three aircraft which have been flying for years.
