This photo captured from the website of the Korean Progressive University Student Union (KPUSU) shows an attempt by its members to enter the presidential office in Seoul, Oct. 4. Yonhap Four liberal student activists were apprehended by police Friday while attempting to trespass at the presidential office compound in Seoul's Yongsan district.

The four, all members of the Korean Progressive University Student Union (KPUSU), attempted to illegally enter the presidential compound through the back door of the former defense ministry site at 11:30 a.m. after shouting out slogans demanding a special counsel investigation into first lady Kim Keon Hee, according to the Seoul Yongsan Police Station.

The police plan to investigate the detailed circumstances and reason for their attempt. Earlier this week, the prosecution decided not to charge Kim in connection with her acceptance of a luxury bag from a Korean American pastor in 2022. In January this year, 20 KPUSU members were caught attempting to enter the presidential office without due process and the police requested arrest warrants for 16 of them.

But a court rejected all of the requests. (Yonhap).
