Pune: The Kondhwa police on Monday detained four minors , aged between 15 and 17 years, on the charges of vandalizing a grocery and a cake shop and two four-wheelers in the Kakde Vasti on Saturday. “There was no specific motive behind vandalism . The teenagers reside in the same locality and were school dropouts.

They would often bide their time chatting near the shops and would speak loudly. The local residents had asked them not to speak loudly,” said assistant inspector Vikas Babar. Babar said around 9.



30pm on Saturday the four minors, armed with sharp weapons, vandalized glass counter and a jar of the grocery store and threatened the owner, Vilas Unecha (40) of Kakade Vasti. Acting on the information given by Unecha and eyewitnesses, a police team detained the boys after issuing notices to their parents/guardians and recovered the weapons. They were sent to an observation home after they were produced before the juvenile justice board, he added.
