Pune: Chandannagar police arrested four men, three of whom are residents of Mumbai and one from Hyderabad, on charges of stealing cellphones from attendees at an international DJ's concert at the open ground of an English medium school in Kharadi on Friday night. The police recovered 36 cellphones worth Rs4.87 lakh from their possession.

Assistant inspector Siddhant Khandekar of the Chandannagar police identified the arrested men as Sayyed Mohammed Indris Shaikh (21), Lokesh Hanumant Pujari (31), and Pappu Bhagirathi Vaishya (24), all residents of Mumbai, and Akhil Venkatramana Godavari (24) from Hyderabad. Khandekar told TOI, "Some of the people attending the concert approached us with complaints of mobile theft. As our team started checking the area, we spotted a man moving around suspiciously and stopped him for questioning.



He resorted to evasive replies, prompting our team to check him and they recovered a few mobile phones from him." The officer said, "The man was detained and questioned further during which he ended up revealinig names of other accomplices. We searched for them and traced each one of them.

Later, we recovered some more mobile phones as the total seizure was 36 phones worth Rs4.87 lakh." Khandekar said, "During questioning, the men told us that they visit concerts of popular DJs and singers, which are attended by an affluent section of society.
