One of the funniest films of Indian cinema, Andaz Apna Apna (1994), directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, completed 30 years on November 4. Starring Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Karisma Kapoor and Raveena Tandon, the comic caper is remembered today for its script, dialogues, characters and tons of funny moments. Hence, the film has a tremendous repeat value and has a fan following across people of all ages.
On the film’s 30th anniversary, the producers have launched an exclusive range of Andaz Apna Apna merchandise in collaboration with A47. Producer Priti Sinha, Namrata Sinha and Amod Sinha also exclusively spoke to Bollywood Hungama about the film and they shared fascinating trivia. As per details on the internet, Andaz Apna Apna was given tax-free status in the state of Maharashtra from Week 5.
Usually, films with a social message are awarded this status. We asked Priti Sinha about it and she said, “You have seen the film, right? It’s a complete laugh riot. Agar aisi film tax-free nahin hogi, toh fir kaunsi film (tax-free) hogi ? (smiles)” Namrata Sinha, said “The tax-free status was given to the film, phir bhi log kehte hai ki film flop hui (laughs).
” Amod Sinha added, “The film did well and a lot of trade people like Taran Adarsh ji, Komal Nahta ji etc. also confirmed this fact. How can a classic comedy film like this not do well?” Priti Sinha also revealed, “When my father (Producer Vinay Sinha) went to get the censor done, the Examining Committee members of the .
