Pune: Three friends triple riding a motorcycle were killed on Saturday when their bike collided with a private luxury bus near Shewalwadi, approximately 68 km from the city, on the Nashik highway. The accident occurred in the early hours, when the three boys were riding towards Pune. Inspector Shrikant Kankal of the Manchar police told TOI, “The accident occurred around 1.

30am when Ghode, Gare, and Dhengle were driving triple seat on the Pune-Nashik highway.” “After crossing Manchar, when they reached Shewalwadi, the private luxury bus, which was also heading towards Pune, knocked down their motorcycle. The trio died on the spot,” he added.



Kankal said after the accident, the bus driver tried to flee the spot. The locals started chasing the bus for about 2km and finally forced him to stop. The police have detained the driver, Rajeshkumar Bholuram Gujar.

He has been booked him for rash driving, causing death due to negligence and provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act. The deceased have been identified as Pratik Gare (21) and Karan Dhengle (18). Both of them are residents of Junnar taluka.

The third victim is Tejas Ghode (21) who is a resident of Ambegaon taluka. Kankal said, “The father of one of the victims told us that the trio was going to Pune. He, however, did not know whether they had any work in Pune or were going for the Ganesh festival.
