Pune: The Pune Rural police on Saturday arrested a man from Khamgaon in Daund taluka on the charge of hacking his brother-in-law to death. The murder happened inside the victim's garment shop in Khamgaon on Saturday evening. After hacking his brother-in-law, Suraj Bhujbal (28), to death, the suspect Amit Bahirat (27) went to the police station and surrendered before the Yavat police.

An officer from the Pune Rural police said Bahirat got married to Bhujbal's sister about one-and-a-half years ago. However, for the past few months, they were living separately following some differences. He said on Saturday around 4pm, when the victim was at his shop, the suspect went there and assaulted him inside the shop with a sharp weapon.



"The suspect then dragged Bhujbal out of the shop and assaulted him again," he said. The officer said after the incident, Bahirat came to the police station and surrendered himself. The police further said a long standing family dispute was the cause for the murder.
