December 24, 2024 marks 25 years since the Kandahar Hijack, one of the most traumatic and defining events in Indian aviation history. As the world reflects on the courage and resilience displayed during those harrowing seven days, Anubhav Sinha’s recently released Netflix Series IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack has brought this historic event back into global consciousness. Released on August 29, 2024, the show has captivated audiences worldwide, staying in the global top 10 charts for three weeks and the Indian top 10 charts for an incredible 11 weeks making it one of the best-made shows in recent history.

"Stories like these remind us of resilience, courage, and humanity in the face of unimaginable adversity," says director Anubhav Sinha. "It was a humbling experience to bring this to the screen and to see the love it has received from audiences globally." Actor Vijay Varma, who portrayed Captain Devi Sharan, reflects, "It was an absolute honor to step into this role.

Produced by Matchbox Shots and led by Sanjay Routray and Sarita Patil, the project took six years of research and dedication to recreate this historic event.
