E Niwas’s Shool, produced by Ram Gopal Varma, is among the films which had the power to change mindsets. It looked at the moral and practical dilemmas of the Indian police force forcefully. Ramu says Shool is one of his own favourites from his production house.

He rates E Niwas as one of his best proteges. Do you look back at Shool with pride? Much pride and fondness, 5th November 1999, my debut film Shool released. What a day of my life.



Shool has completed 25 years now, it’s the silver jubilee year. What a rewarding journey it has been! I could have scarcely anticipated that the film will be recalled with such fondness after such a long time. There were so many cops-versus-corruption films before and after Shool.
