So far, it has been a very busy year at the courts in Yorkshire. Criminals who have committed a whole range of crimes - from shop theft to murder - have been put behind bars as they sat in the docks at the courts across our region. Yorkshire is home to some of the busiest in the country and despite everything going on outside their doors, judges, barristers, ushers and clerks do their best to keep the wheels of justice turning.

This year has already seen some of the most dangerous criminals in the country locked up for crimes committed in our region. Those locked up include Marcus Osborne, who was handed a whole life order in March for the murders of his ex-girlfriend Katie Higton and her new partner Steven Harnett, and Nicola Ryder and Zoe Lethbridge, who murdered their neighbour Stephen Koszyczarshi. Brian was jailed for 30 months after he left a taxi driver in a coma following a crash. He had been captured on footage driving at high speeds before the collision. A court heard that seconds before the collision, Brian had opened a Snapchat message.

Read the full story here. County lines drug dealer Blair was locked up for five years after police found him with crack cocaine and heroin. North Yorkshire Police's Operation Expedite team identified a 'deal-line' which was offering crack cocaine and heroin for sale for four days at the end on June in 2023.

This was being run from the Middlesbrough area and the number was linked to Blair. On June 28, officers identified Blair getting off a bus in Westborough, Scarborough, with a 16-year-old boy. They were traced to McDonald's on Huntriss Row and were both arrested.

The boy ran to the toilets and disposed of a package containing heroin and crack cocaine over the top of a toilet cubicle. However, the cubicle was occupied at the time and the package was recovered. It contained 53 wraps of crack cocaine and 40 wraps of heroin.

Following a search of Blair, the deal phone was also recovered. Read the full story here. Dangerous driver O'Reilly led police on a "lunatic" pursuit and then told an officer: "I'm not arguing with you.

..you're doing your job" as he was arrested.

The pursuit - which lasted around three minutes - ended after O'Reilly collided with traffic cones, the rear of a taxi and the rear of a lorry. He was jailed for a year for dangerous driving. Read the full story here.

Sick Shaw plied a teenage girl with cans of beer before putting his hand up her top and inside her bra. He encouraged the 15-year-old to stay silent and downplay what had happened to her after the vile attack inside his home in Rotherham. After being found guilty of one count of sexual assault he was jailed for three years and four months.

Read the full story here. Professional conman Williams was ordered to spend more time behind bars after he stole a delivery driver's work van as he went about his job in Skipton. The victim tried to stop him but could not get into the van and suffered injuries.

Williams took a wallet, driving licence and debit cards which were used to buy boxes of Benson & Hedges. He was handed a year to be served consecutively to the sentence he was handed in April last year. Read the full story here.

Barrett was put behind bars in January after glassing his girlfriend. He threw the glass at his partner and left her needing hospital treatment following a row at their home while he was under investigation for drug offences. He was jailed for 28 months.

Read the full story here. Pittsmoor Shotta Boys member Watson was jailed after his DNA was found on the trigger of a loaded gun discovered during a drugs raid in Doncaster. The revolver, a pistol and ammunition were seized from an address in Denaby.

Two loaded firearms were found hidden in a cupboard in the hallway of the property along with a quantity of drugs. Watson went on to plead guilty to possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition and was jailed for seven years and two months. Read the full story here.

Halifax dad Taj was caught dealing drugs just months after being released from prison. He was put back behind bars for five years and seven months after being caught dealing to suspected drug users from a parked-up Audi. When he was arrested he was found to be in possession of £260 in mixed banknotes and a discarded black bag contained dozens of wraps of crack cocaine and heroin.

The drugs were valued at around £2,200. Read the full story here. Butters was part of a group that burgled copper wiring from a block of Bradford flats.

The crime left residents living there homeless while the gang bragged on TikTok. Set against a background of Akon's 'Smack That' a compilation of videos showing the theft from the City Exchange building was posted on the social media app. One of the videos, posted on an account with the name "Bfdcharva," featured was captioned "f*** the trackers" and another featured 20-year-old Butters who was handed two-and-a-half years for his part.

Read the full story here. Rapist Frankland was put behind bars after his brave victim recorded him admitting to the crime. The then 17-year-old had sex with the teenage girl despite her protests.

She was then able to secretly record parts of a conversation between them where he apologised for "raping her." He was jailed for 32 months and a further 16 months for a separate theft offence. Read the full story here.

Xheladinaj was jailed for four years for his part in a sophisticated cannabis growing conspiracy which could have netted criminals over £500,000. The organisers used false identity documents to rent houses and set up cannabis factories by digging out spaces underground and using wardrobe doors to conceal access to loft spaces. Francis - the last member of the gang behind the UK's biggest ever prison drugs smuggling conspiracy - was finally jailed in January. He was handed three years and 11 months for his part, months after fellow inmate Joseph Whittingham and his girlfriend Amy Hatfield - a mental health support worker at HMP Lindholme in Doncaster - were jailed. Sheffield Crown Court heard in October how the gang worked to smuggle over £1million worth of drugs, knives and mobile phones into the grounds of the Doncaster prison.

Francis had previously pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply class A and B drugs and conspiracy to convey drugs into prison. Read the full story here. Paedophile Baskerville was put behind bars for seven years after a court heard how he preyed on a young boy and abused him over two years.

His sick crimes came to light after his victim spoke out and he was arrested. Read the full story here. Pur sexually assaulted a six-year-old girl in her own home in a sick attack.

He was undertaking building work at the property and had entered the girl's bedroom before sexually assaulting her. He told her not to tell anyone and when he was confronted by her father, denied everything. He was found guilty of sexual penetration of a child under 13 and jailed for seven years.

Read the full story here. Wildin attacked an elderly woman in a wheelchair after she withdrew money from a cash machine. Members of the public bravely stepped in and gave when they saw what had happened.

They managed to detain him before police arrived and the woman's bag and its contents were handed back to her. Wildin was jailed for three years and three months. Read the full story here.

Cheese thieves Firth, Metcalf, Hughes and Fitzgerald were all jailed after they carried out a string of thefts from shops across Doncaster. Firth stole over £400 worth of products from the same One Stop shop and snatched jars of coffee, tubs of butter and blocks of cheese over five months. She was jailed for three months.

Metcalf stole from a Savers and a petrol station during his spree with cost shops £405. He was jailed for four months. Hughes was jailed for three months and one week after being caught on CCTV stealing from a One Stop shop in Balby and Fitzgerald was handed four-weeks in prison for stealing multiple packets of cheese and several jars of coffee from a Co-op in Bessacarr.

Read the full story here. Bowen, 36, was banned from Sheffield city centre for two years and put behind bars for four weeks after being convicted of offences of theft, shoplifting and being drunk and disorderly. Read the full story here.

Thief Stocks took an angle grinder to steal items from a business before leading police on a chase at speeds of up to 70mph in 30mph zones. He went with another man and stole items worth around £6,000 before the dramatic chase which lasted six minutes and 30 seconds. He was jailed for 38 months.

Read the full story here. Bradford man Rehman was jailed after causing a young girl psychological damage that could be "lifelong." A judge praised the girl after Rehman was found guilty of rape, sexual activity with a child and attempting to engage in sexual activity.

He was jailed for 14 years and ordered to serve an extended licence period of a year. Read the full story here. Yaseen and Ndikumana were put behind bars in January after officers executed warrants at two addresses and discovered £18,000 worth of crack cocaine and heroin.

Another property linked to three men arrested was searched and officers found a black handgun and three nine-milimetre round. Yaseen was jailed for ten years and six months and Ndikumana was handed 25 months. Read the full story here.

Jealous Boyle subjected his terrified partner to violence and abuse during their relationship - even controlling what she wore. A court heard he would stop the woman going out with friends and would not let her wear low-cut tops or tight jeans and would "constantly" check her phone. She also said there had been too many instances of violence to count.

He was jailed for two-and-a-half years. Read the full story here. Sick paedophile Montgomery forced his victims to go through a trial after abusing them three decades ago.

He was found guilty of one charge of rape and two of indecent assault and jailed for six years. Bradford Crown Court heard he committed the offences when he was between the ages of 14 and 16. Read the full story here.

Pensioner Haase travelled from Liverpool to Sheffield to set a car on fire after demanding thousands of pounds from a family. When the owners refused to hand over the cash he returned five days later and set fire to a Range Rover parked outside their home. It spread to the garage and then to the house, causing extensive damage.

He had previously been jailed for 22 years for perverting the course of justice and was ordered to serve the rest of that as well as the nine years imposed for committing arson with intent. Read the full story here. Kirklees rapist Metcalfe was put behind bars for 12 years after being found guilty of four counts of rape and one of sexual activity with a child.

Bradford Crown Court heard how his sick offending against two girls between 15 and 17-years-old came to light when one bravely reported him in 2019. Read the full story here. Sick Pearson and Mitchell murdered his stepfather Stephen Kershaw and then went on a bender with his money.

The cruel couple were caught on CCTV buying items at shops including JD Sports and River Island while Mr Kershaw's body was stuffed in an alcove in his own bedroom. After they were arrested, Pearson told a man she had sex with what they had done. She went on to admit the crime to two prison officers and was also recorded in a prison van discussing it with Mitchell.

They were both handed life sentences with minimum terms of 22 years for Mitchell and 19 years for Pearson. Read the full story here. Rusnak told a teenage boy he was a "crazy guy" before stealing his mobile phone and robbing another person at knifepoint.

He had asked his first victim for the time before going on to steal the phone. In a separate offence he targeted another teenager - this time with a group - and threatened him with a knife and demanded he hand over his property. The group took a necklace, his money and bus pass but the necklace was passed back due to the boy saying it had sentimental value.

Rusnak was jailed for four years and three months. Read the full story here. Sick predator Fallows was jailed for seven years and nine months in January after being found guilty of engaging in sexual activity with a girl between the ages of 13 and 15.

It was said the offences took place in the Southowram area. Read the full story here. Shaw was put behind bars for three years and eight months for his part in a drive-by shooting where a teenage boy was shot in the back in a case of mistaken identity.

The teenager was minding his own business when Shaw and his associates pulled up alongside him in their car and shot him. A police investigation spanning five years found those responsible had approached the victim by mistake thinking he was someone else. Read the full story here.

A police call-out to reports of a burglary in Dick Lane, Bradford led to the discovery of a huge cannabis operation which could have netted criminals almost £500,000 on the streets. When officers arrived they found Rexho and Gjoshi on the roof and a police helicopter became involved. Eventually they came down and police discovered three rooms which had been converted into a cannabis growing facility with a large number of lights, transformers and hundreds of potted plants.

The plants found had a potential yield of 57 kilograms of cannabis which could have been worth up to £494,000 if sold at street level. Gjoshi was jailed for 32 months and Rexho for 27 months. Read the full story here.

Sheffield woman Medley was jailed for three years after stashes of class A drugs were found around her home, which was raided under a warrant executed by South Yorkshire Police. The 53-year-old was arrested and officers found a small bag of heroin in her dressing gown pocket. After a further search of her home, officers found amphetamine in the kitchen freezer, cocaine in the living room and morphine tablets on the windowsill.

Read the full story here. Thug Bowser pulled a gun on a reveller at a North Yorkshire pub in a row over a bar bill. Both were customers at the Tan Hill Inn in July last year when events turned sour and Bowser was asked to leave.

He had an altercation with another customer who he slapped on the head and pushed him and another woman before slapping a female member of staff who tried to intervene and pull him away. Once Bowser left the pub, the door was locked but he returned to a nearby toilet, pulling the gun on the man. It did not fire and the man managed to escape by locking himself in a nearby room but shots were then fired through the door.

He was jailed for 19 years and ordered to serve a four-year extended licence period. Read the full story here. New mum Marcia was jailed after she admitted making over £100,000 by smuggling phones into prisons across the country.

One of the prisons was HMP Lindholme, in Doncaster. A court heard how Marcia worked with Amy Chell to smuggle the prohibited items in while making money. She was jailed for 20 months.

Double-killer and rapist Marcus Osborne was handed a whole-life order after he murdered Katie Higton and new partner Steven Harnett in a merciless attack at her home in Huddersfield. Osborne, 35, lured Katie home to her address in Harpe Inge, Dalton, in the early hours of May 15 last year after she enjoyed a cinema date with Steven.

He attacked her "immediately" at her front door, subjecting her to 99 separate injuries with a knife. Read the full story here. The 35-year-old was jailed for over a decade after violently sexually assaulting an elderly woman in her 80s while she was in her own home.

Kidd, was put behind bars for 14 years, with another five to be served on extended licence, after pleading guilty to one count of wounding with intent and two counts of sexual assault. Read the full story here. Doncaster drug dealing duo Patterson and Enoe-Nelson were caught after police noticed they were driving a damaged BMW.

Patterson, 29, of Safron Drive, Doncaster, and Enoe-Nelson, 30, of West Hendon, London were found in possession of cannabis and Enoe-Nelson was also found in possession of a clear bag containing white and brown rocks, now known to be the Class A drugs crack and heroin. A burner phone and cash were found in the centre console of the car, and examination of the mobile phone led officers to identify messages further linking the pair to drug dealing. Both men pleaded guilty and further appeared before Sheffield Crown Court.

Patterson was sentenced to four years and four months in prison, and Enoe-Nelson was sentenced to four years. Read the full story here. Iqbal downed whisky before carrying out a “random” stabbing in a Halifax street had “woken up on the wrong side of the bed.

” The 34-year-old, stabbed an entirely innocent 17-year-old who had been standing in the street while he was waiting for a friend. Last June Iqbal’s guilty pleas to charges of wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm and possession of a knife were accepted by the prosecution and in February he was sentenced as a dangerous offender to 51 months in jail and given an extended licence period of four years. Read the full story here A sick paedophile who sexually abused a seven-year-old girl and went on to rape her in his van was jailed.

Sean Dooley, 57, targeted and abused the girl over a number of years, grooming her and plying her with money and cannabis, while sexually assaulting and raping her. The court heard Dooley had been found guilty of a number of horrifying offences after standing trial in November last year. Mr said: "He was convicted after a nine-day trial of eight counts - two of causing a child under the age of 13 to engage in sexual activity, three of sexual assault of a child under the age of 13, two of rape and assault by penetration of a child under the age of 13.

" Read the full story here. Thief Oprea, who stole cash, phones and a diamond ring from elderly victims in Mirfield was jailed for more than three years. Sorinel Oprea, 22, from Leeds, targeted a sheltered living complex for elderly residents in Mirfield in November 2023, stealing cash, phones and a diamond ring of significant monetary and sentimental value to its owner.

He also committed a similar offence in a complex in Wakefield in the same month. The 22-year-old, of no fixed address, was jailed for 40 months at Leeds Crown Court on Thursday, February 22, after pleading guilty to the burglary offences, targeting elderly residents living in sheltered housing. The reckless driver who killed a Yorkshire woman was filmed in her car jigging about to music, phone in hand, yelping "oops!" and giggling while speeding at 70mph in a 40mph zone. This provided a shocking glimpse into killer Molly Mycroft's, 21, dangerous antics before she sped through a red light into a BMW, ending 20-year-old Sarah Oliver's life. The tragic and senseless event occurred along Wheatley Hall Road in Doncaster on August 2, 2022.

Mycroft, 21, of Ivanhoe Road, was handed a nine year sentence for causing Sarah’s death at Sheffield Crown Court. She had pleaded guilty to causing the death by dangerous driving and seriously injuring two other passengers. Read the full story here.

The brothers were jailed after cocaine worth £660,000 was found in an M1 services stop by police. West Yorkshire Police stopped a Toyota C-HR being driven by Klevis Lika at Woodall Services, on the M1 near Sheffield, on June 1, 2023. A search of the vehicle located 22 kilos of cocaine, with an approximate value of £660,000.

Appearing before Sheffield Crown Court for sentence on February 23, Klevis Lika, aged 28, of Wickham Road, Croydon, who previously pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply a Class A controlled drug, was jailed for 13 and a half years. Florin Lika, aged 23, of Wickham Road, Croydon, also pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply a Class A controlled drug, and was jailed for 9 years. Read the full story here.

A probation officer who tried to smuggle drugs into HMP Wealstun asked colleagues about the rules around relationships between staff and prisoners. Alice Graham, now 33, was 28 and had just seven months' experience when she was caught by prison staff smuggling prohibited items into the category C men's prison in 2021. She was jailed for three years.

Read the full story here. The 4x4 driver who deliberately drove his “highly dangerous” Mitsubishi Shogun into a couple outside their Bradford home was jailed for seven years. Last November 34-year-old Daniel McAllister was cleared by a jury on two attempted murder charges, but they convicted him on two alternative charges of causing grievous bodily harm with intent following the incident which happened on Dene Road, Bradford, in July 2021.

McAllister, of Sharp Avenue, Wibsey, claimed during his trial at Bradford Crown Court that he lost control of his Mitsubishi Shogun, which was fitted with bull bars, as he tried to scare Simon Brame by driving towards him. Harriott, 56, was handed a life sentence with a minimum term of 23 years for the "brutal, vicious and mercliless" murder of his sister Sandra Harriott as she left her home in Ripon Avenue early on May 26 last year.

Leeds Crown Court heard Harriott "lied in wait" for Sandra before attacking her with a 55cm Samurai sword. His struck Sandra eight times with the blade, stabbed her twice and went to leave before turning back and stabbing her once more in the chest. Read the full story here.

Ryan Patient's "cowardly actions show so tragically how quickly a good life can be snatched away by a single act of violence", Jake Rainton's heartbroken family said after he finally faced justice. Patient, 25, was jailed for 10 years for the manslaughter of Jake, having been found guilty of the charge following a trial at Leeds Crown Court in January. Jake, 23, was killed after being hit in the "unprovoked attack" following a night out in Huddersfield town centre on July 15 last year.

Patient was on a stag do at the time, and fled the scene after inflicting the fatal injuries on Jake. Read the full story here. The two men - found inside a £1m drugs factory in Sheffield - were jailed in February for over six years.

Officers discovered around 700 cannabis plants worth an estimated £1m during a pre-planned raid at a commercial property in Colwall Street in Darnall in December 2023. The ‘extremely complex and professional’ set-up is one of the largest cannabis cultivations that the force had ever come across, officers say. Read the full story here.

Sharp was jailed for seven years after being found guilty of sexually abusing a girl more than 20 years ago. Anthony Sharp, 66, of Raynor Close, Oakes, was locked up at Bradford Crown Court for the abuse which a judge said had had a catastrophic effect on his victim. Recorder Anthony Hawks also imposed an indefinite restraining order which bans Sharp from contacting the complainant in the future and the defendant must also register as a sex offender with the police for the rest of his life.

Barnsley thief Cash was jailed after using a child to help him steal £1,000 worth of alcohol from a supermarket Michael Cash, 34, was jailed for five months after his crimes were said to be "so serious" by a judge. From Nanny Marr Crescent in Darfield, Cash pleaded guilty to two thefts and two counts of making off without payment from two restaurants in Darfield and Wombwell.

Read the full story here. The crossbow-wielding thug who shot his victim on his own doorstep was jailed in February. The man suffered a small puncture wound after being struck by the metal-tipped bolt outside his home in Mytholmroyd by Brian Tiller.

Tiller's lawyer Andrew Walker told Bradford Crown Court the crossbow was a "glorified toy" compared to a proper crossbow, but Judge Colin Burn concluded it had been a highly dangerous weapon. Tiller, 58, admitted unlawful wounding, having been arrested following the incident at the block of flats last August. The court heard that an earlier incident involving a fuse which he had taken from another resident's flat had led up to the confrontation.

Read the full story here. Bond harassed his own brother and sister and threatened to petrol bomb his ex-partner's house in front of her children. Bond, 43, targeted a number of his loved ones in a spree over South Yorkshire in April and May last year.

It involved him making repeated calls to his sister threatening to smash her windows and "go and hurt" his brother Her Honour Judge Rachael Harrison jailed Bond for 22 months and told him: "You have what can only be described as an appalling record of previous convictions. You were recalled on your last sentence and only released in December 2022. At the time of the commission of these offences you were taking drugs.

" She also made him the subject of a seven-year restraining order. Read the full story here. Gun-wielding Sheffield 23-year-old Curtis made a chilling ten-word threat to the police officers arresting him.

Xavier Curtis, of Oxford Street, was put behind bars for six years after pleading guilty to drug and firearm offences. The court heard how when Curtis was arrested, he was found to be in possession of a firearm shouting at the South Yorkshire Police officers on the scene: "You know people like you, I shoot them for fun." Sheffield shoplifter Newton threatened to stab a Sainsbury's worker with a needle before making off with stolen coffee. Richard Newton, 44, was jailed for four months and made the subject of a criminal behaviour order after admitting the shocking offences. Read the full story here.

A terrified woman was forced to hide from the abuse of her partner in a pub stairway before he threw a wooden chair at her. The woman was hiding from Darren Arnold, 40, after the pair - a couple of around two years - went to see a live band at the Cross Keys in Pontefract on January 21 last year when he accused her of "being secretive." Serial rapist Martoglio, who attacked a woman as she slept was jailed. Evil Christian Krishna Martoglio, 25, raped the woman at her North Yorkshire home following a social gathering in 2022. North Yorkshire Police said at the end of the evening guests were allocated separate rooms but the woman woke up in the early hours of the morning to find Martoglio raping her.

Read the full story here. Window salesman Midgley who killed a beloved dad-of-two in a head-on crash in Calderdale was jailed in February. Daniel Midgley, 26, ignored a series of warning signs and markings on Hebden Bridge Road, near Pecket Well in April 2022, before crashing into a Nissan Qashqai being driven by Parvin Vekaria.

Midgley, of Balmoral Chase, was on the way to visit a potential customer, Bradford Crown Court heard. Mr Vekaria, from Bradford, was described by his family as a "larger than life" character. He suffered serious injuries in the collision in the collision and died in hospital 11 days later.

As the judge jailed Midgley for four years and eight months for causing death by dangerous driving, he said the victim "was the heart and soul of the family and supportive of those he loved". Read the full story here. Webber was jailed after he blackmailed a 12-year-old girl into sending explicit images to him over Snapchat.

Webber, 39, of Hollygarth Lane in Beal, North Yorkshire, was found guilty in July last year of seven offences including blackmail, inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, possession of indecent images of children and possession of extreme pornography. He was jailed for 13 years at York Crown Court after it heard he manipulated a 12-year-old girl into sending explicit images of herself to him over Snapchat. Read the full story here.

Sheffield primary school teacher Murch travelled nearly 50 miles to rape a 12-year-old schoolgirl in a hotel and then took her to a toy shop. SMurch, of Parkside Road, met the girl online. She told him she was 18 when she was only 12.

The 55-year-old asked her to send indecent images of herself and arranged to meet her at a hotel in Stoke-on-Trent. Murch was jailed for seven-and-a-half years with an extended licence period of one year. He will serve two thirds of the custodial sentence (five years) before he can be considered for release by the parole board.

He was placed on the sex offenders' register for life and was made the subject of an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO). Read the full story here. Two Doncaster burglars were jailed after breaking into two businesses in the city.

Nathan Lawrence, who has 39 previous convictions to his name, smashed his way into a town centre business premises by destroying a second floor window. The 34-year-old, of Urban Road, Hexthorpe, stole nothing from the business during the break-in and soon fled the scene, leaving the owner to discover shards of glass and a £250 window that needed replacing. Liam Dixon, 35, who has 36 previous convictions, raided the same Tesco store three times, including twice in one day, by stealing boxes of laundry detergent and meat.

He made no attempt to pay and simply walked out of the store after shovelling the stolen products into a carrier bag. Read the full story here. One car was burnt out and eight others had their tyres slashed or punctured after a 22-year-old man went on a “rampage” in streets in Greetland and Elland last summer.

William Smith was said to have been “in a dark place” after a fall-out with his partner when he indiscriminately attacked vehicles and homes during the early hours of August 2. Smith, of no fixed abode, was jailed for a total of four years and three months on February 14 after he admitted committing 13 offences that night and then carrying two further burglary offences while he was on bail. Prosecutor Lydia Pearce told Bradford Crown Court Smith’s offending began just after 1am when he got into a Nissan Note vehicle and stole about £3 in loose change.

Read the full story here. On August 9, 2023, at around 9pm, Daniel Balazs, 21. stabbed 28-year-old Daniel Micska in the chest with a 12cm knife on Newton Street in Barnsley.

He fled the scene and Daniel was left bleeding out, begging people to call an ambulance. On February 14, he was jailed for life with a minimum term of 20 years. He was also sentenced to 12 months for possession of an offensive weapon and will serve the sentences concurrently.

Read the full story here. A husband and his parents were jailed after they left his wife in a vegetative state at their home in Huddersfield. Ambreen Fatima Sheikh has never woken up after she fell unconscious in July 2015.

An ambulance was called to the home in Clara Street, Huddersfield that she shared with her husband Asgar Sheikh, 30, father-in-law Khalid Sheikh, 55, mother-in-law Shabnam Sheikh, 53, and brother and sister-in-law Sakalayne, 24 and Shafuga Sheikh, 29. In December it took a jury at Leeds Crown Court 10 hours and 21 minutes to deliver unanimous guilty verdicts in the case for causing or allowing a vulnerable adult to suffer serious physical harm. Only Sakalyne, was found not guilty.

The judge jailed Shabnam, Asgar and Khalid Sheikh for seven years and nine months and handed Shagufa Sheikh a sentence of 18 months, suspended for two years and Sakalayne Sheikh one of six months suspended for two years. Ward denied his actions throughout the investigation, says South Yorkshire Police, but changed his plea on day two of the trial. He pleaded guilty to having sex with a child. Of no fixed abode, Ward was convicted of sexual activity with a child under 16.

Read the full story here. Sheffield man Bella, who exchanged gifts with two teenage girls for sexual acts was jailed for over two decades. Bella, 40, repeatedly abused and manipulated his two victims aged 12 and 16 during a four-year period.

Sheffield Crown Court heard how Bella controlled and forced his victims to engage in sexual acts with him in return for gifts and would beat them if they did not do what he demanded. Bella, from the Manor area of Sheffield, first appeared before Sheffield Crown Court in December 2022 and was found guilty by jury of three counts of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and two counts of sexual assault. The jury was unable to reach a verdict on five further charges.

Read the full story here. Hussain, 26, first attacked his then-partner on May 9 last year, punching her to the face, grabbing her, throwing her onto a bed. He then strangled her for the first of a number of times.

Prosecutor Benjamin Whittingham told Bradford Crown Court that on June 2, Hussain, of Northside Road in Bradford, turned violent again when the woman "wouldn't let him go through her phone." His Honour Judge Burn jailed Hussain for 42 months, less the time he has already spent on remand. He also made him the subject of a 20-year restraining order, prohibiting him from contacting the victim.

Read the full story here. Sick predator Oldham, who went on the run after plying a teenage girls with drugs before abusing them in two different attacks, was finally jailed in February. Oldham, 35, attacked his first victim after giving her cannabis in Rotherham on January 29, 2022.

The girl bravely reported to the police that after being given the drug to smoke she woke up to find Oldham sexually abusing her. Read the full story here. Evil Sheffield man Stacey used Snapchat to convince a 12-year-old girl he was 15 before raping her in a park.

Sheffield Crown Court heard how 21-year-old rapist Lewis Stacey deceived the young girl over Snapchat messages by using a false name and convincing her he was 15-years-old. The victim initially met Stacey in June 2022, and during the meeting he raped her twice. Stacey then arranged to meet the girl again in a park in July 2022, where he led her into some bushes and raped her again.

He received an eight and a half year jail sentence. Read the full story here. Teenage drug dealer Cammish-Flemming was jailed after the police found him with cocaine and cannabis.

A teenage boy was forced to play dead and "felt his soul leave his body" after being slashed at and chopped with a machete in a terrifying attack inside an abandoned warehouse. Brothers John and Robert Mahoney, Kian Carte and Mark Siddall were all jailed for their parts in the sickening attack which they carried out in the Askern area of Doncaster on April 11 last year.

Read the full story here. A Huddersfield woman "fought for her life" as she was stabbed eight times by her boyfriend in a jealous rage. The woman had picked up violent thug Joseph Valvona, 26, from his night out in Huddersfield on September 9 last year and the couple made their way home.

Prosecutor Ian Cook told Leeds Crown Court that they had been in a relationship for two years and were living together at the time of the horrific and frenzied attack. His Honour Judge Tom Bayliss KC made Valvona the subject of a restraining order, until further order. He handed him an extended sentence of ten-and-a-half-years, made up of seven-and-a-half-years in custody and an extended licence period of three years.

The three men were caught stealing headphones, Pokemon cards, alcohol and over £200 worth of chocolate after each carrying out a number of shoplifting offences.

The smile was wiped off the face of smirking Sheffield drug dealer Wild after she appeared in court for her involvement in a commercial bring-and-ring drugs operation, flooding the streets with heroin and crack cocaine. Courtney Wild, 26, pictured with a smug grin on her face following her arrest, was put behind bars for three years.

She was arrested after police raided an address on Albert Road due to suspicions drugs were being dealt from the property. Read the full story here. Doncaster man Madine was jailed after sexually assaulting a child while they were sleeping before bragging about it in texts to a convicted paedophile.

Madine subjected the victim to multiple sexual attacks which he filmed. He then sent over the footage to James Mitchell who was jailed after admitting child sexual offences. Read the full story here.

"Aggressive" pub-goer Thompson attacked another customer and told police "I'll bang you out as well". The victim had been in a pub on Bridge Street, Keighley, last November when he was confronted by aggressive 38-year-old Thompson, who had already been thrown out of the premises because of his behaviour. The complainant left the pub, but he was followed by Thompson who continued to shout at him.

Prosecutor Alisha Kaye told Bradford Crown Court that when the man turned round to ask Thompson what his problem was the defendant punched him hard to the left side of his face. Recorder Simon Eckersley sentenced Thompson to a total of 25 months in prison and also made him subject to a five-year restraining order which bans him from contacting the complainant. He said rather than going home after being ejected from the pub Thompson had targeted his next victim for “mindless violence.

Warren, 53, believed he was messaging the teenager on an app but was in fact talking to a covert investigator from the Yorkshire and Humber Organised Crime Unit. It formed part of an operation designed to tackle child abuse. Since his arrest, he pleaded guilty and was sentenced at Teesside Crown Court to 16 months in jail, suspended for 24 months.

He was also ordered to sign the sex offenders' register. Read the full story here. Violent Andrews was locked up after he whipped his then-partner with an iPhone cable and attacked her when there was no toilet paper.

The judge explained that Andrews’ guilty pleas meant that a 30-month sentence could be reduced to two years. Recorder Palmer also made Andrews subject to a five-year restraining order which bans him from contacting the complainant or going to any address where he knows or reasonably believes she is living. Wayne McCreery and Liam Dinsdale A man, who was in his 70s, was scammed out of his entire life savings by a group of fraudsters led by Wayne McCreery. McCreery, 50, also known as Chadwick, was jailed for four years for his role in January and in March his "number two" Liam Dinsdale, 38, of Bradley Road, East Nelson, was also locked up. Dinsdale, who pleaded guilty to a charge of conspiracy to defraud, was jailed for five-and-a-half years after the court heard that he was sent to prison back in 2013 for almost identical fraud offences.

Hewitt, 60, of Park Road Barnsley appeared at Sheffield Crown Court on Thursday, March 21.

An angry son who threw spaghetti bolognese in his bed-ridden father's face and then hit him over the head with a metal spoon was jailed in March. Sharpe, 46, had moved into his dad's home and had been receiving carer's allowance to look after the 66-year-old, who needed daily care following a brain tumour. When his father made a request while Gavin was eating, he responded by throwing some of the food he was having into his father's face.

The man's eyes started to water and Sharpe then "lost it" and began hitting him across the face with a metal spoon, resulting in reddening and bruising. Sharpe's father begged him to stop and he told carers the next day that his son had hit him several times on the head. Sharpe initially claimed the injuries had been accidental, but finally pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm last month.

Read the full story here. Homeless drug addict Rehman, who robbed a Good Samaritan the day after he had given him food, was jailed. Rehman, who had previous convictions for robbery, targeted his slightly-built victim when they met up in the Stott Hill area of Bradford city centre last summer so she could get her money back for some faulty speakers she had bought from him.

Bradford Crown Court heard how 44-year-old Rehman pushed the woman up against a wall and stole her mobile phone, purse and £100 in cash. The woman suffered a wound to her head during the struggle, but Rehman fled the scene. Read the full story here.

Gjoka was jailed for more than five years after he became involved in transporting and warehousing cocaine and heroin with an estimated street value of up to £200,000. The 21-year-old, came into the country from Albania illegally back in January 2023 and just three months later he fell prey to criminals involved in the drugs trade. Read the full story here.

Fagge was jailed for more than eight years after he was convicted of robbery. Fagge made off with the victim’s bank card and mobile phone after demanding money and threatening to stab him. Read the full story here.

Joshua Chapman, 20, of Mosquito Court in Bedale was jailed for nine years and four months after causing the deaths by dangerous driving of Louis Banks, Aaron Bell and Tommy Shevels in July 2022. Chapman lost control of his Alfa Romeo and collided with a tree on the B6268 between Bedale and Masham. Louis, 17, Aaron, 18, and Tommy, 18, - who were all passengers in the car - died at the scene.

Chapman received treatment in hospital after suffering multiple fractures and a head injury. He told police he could not remember the crash, but a motorist who was in front of the vehicle said the car was following very close behind him, piping its horn before overtaking him when he stopped at a set of traffic lights, and then driving through them when they were on red. Nowek had featured in a BBC Crimewatch appeal after he went on the run opened fire on a family home in Bradford in the dead of night. A mum and her two young children were asleep at the house in Coleshill Way back in October 2020 when masked Nowek arrived in the early hours and fired four shots from a Makarov semi-automatic self-loading pistol. A drugged-up Hemingway, who cut off part of his own right ear and then used the bloodied piece of flesh to scrawl a message in the hallway outside his former partner’s flat, was jailed for 16 months in March. When his ex returned to her home she found the severed piece of ear on her dressing table, but Bradford Crown Court heard that the 24-year-old denied he had left it in her bedroom. Prosecutor Nicola Hoskins said the incident last November left the woman feeling scared, numb and petrified.

Read the full story here. 42-year-old Harrogate man Yates was given a hospital order with restrictions for the attempted murder of two children. At around 8am on Monday June 20 2022, he attacked the two children with a large bread knife, severely cutting the throat of one child which resulted in life threatening injuries.

He then attempted to do the same to a younger child. Hearing the screams of the younger children, a teenage child ran to help them and bravely tackled Yates, managing to wrestle the knife from him as he attempted to harm the youngest child. Thankfully all three children were able to run away from Yates.

Read the full story here. The men fled from a police raid in a huge Doncaster cannabis factory and were later jailed. In October 2023, South Yorkshire Police raided a property in Somerset Road in the Hyde Park area of Doncaster.

Inside, they found 22-year-old Klodis Hamzaj who tried to run out of the terraced house and 28-year-old Elmi Hamzaj, who tried to escape through a bathroom window, but both were stopped in their tracks by officers. Baz, aged 28, was arrested in Gleadless, Sheffield in September 2023 after South Yorkshire Police received reports of criminal damage and the possession of a knife. Following a sweep of the area, the police found a glove containing Class A drugs, including several ounces of cocaine. Read the full story here.

Ellwood, 40, attacked her husband Ryan after they had been out celebrating her birthday in Wakefield on August 29 last year. A bar supervisor told how he had served her six strong cocktails containing vodka, gin, barcadi and tequila as the couple socialised in The Blind Pig. Ellwood was captured on CCTV and just nine minutes later an ambulance was called to the family home in Greenwood Court, Wakefield.

Ryan had been stabbed with a knife that had pierced his rib, lung and aorta, but it was not the first incident where Ellwood had turned violent. Read the full story here. 21-year-old man Varley was jailed for seven years after he killed a father of three by dangerous driving.

In May 2021, Varley, from Pontefract, failed to stop for officers after he was spotted acting suspiciously while driving, leading to a police chase. During the chase, with South Yorkshire Police, Varley, who was driving a black Peugeot, failed to give way at a junction, turning onto Birley Road in Barnsley and hitting a silver Ford. Yorkshire woman Bond was sentenced to jail in March after stealing more than £75,000 from her own mother, who suffered from dementia. Bond, 50 and from Hardy Meadows, Grassington, had Power of Attorney over her mum, who suffered from dementia, for a three year period. However, instead of making payments from a bank account for her mum's care home fees, she spent more than £75,000 on things for herself.

Read the full story here. Harrogate man Veal was jailed after sending explicit sexual images to someone he thought was a 12-year-old child. The 33-year-old, of Harewood Road, thought he was talking to a 12-year-old girl over a social media platform, but he was really talking to an undercover investigator.

In January 2023, Veal sent a friend request to the “girl” via SnapChat, and began sending explicit sexual videos of adults performing sex acts on themselves and encouraged her to do the same. Read the full story here. "Entrenched" drug addict Amos was found in possession of heroin and crack cocaine as well as stun guns disguised as a ring and a knuckle duster.

The weapons had the ability to discharge a high voltage of electricity. Amos, 42, was arrested after police raided an address in Bridgend on November 26 last year. Entry was forced into the property in Heol Loveluck and four people were found in the living room.

The defendant was sitting alone on a sofa, with brown powder and a large lump of crack cocaine on the floor in front of her. Read the full story here. Isaac threatened a five-year-old girl with a pair of scissors in a busy town centre and was jailed for more than a decade.

She grabbed the child from behind as she walked alongside family members in Barnsley town centre on August 23 last year. She screamed 'this is my child now' and held a pair of dress scissors to the girl. Read the full story here.

The three Albanian men have been jailed after police officers used a drone during a raid on a disused Halifax mill and uncovered a sophisticated cannabis “factory” which could have netted criminals about £2.8 million. Read the full story here.

South, 22, was jailed in March for seven years and six months for causing the death of Robert Chessman after he collided with him as he lost control of his Skoda Fabia. South had travelled at an average speed of 74mph before careering off the carriageway on Haugh Road in Rotherham and hitting the 43-year-old. Read the full story here.

Armed robber Jones, who threatened staff as he targeted a bank and building society, is now behind bars after being sentenced in March. Michael Jones, 27, of Hoyland Terrace, South Kirkby, has been jailed for nine years after admitting two counts of robbery, one count of possession of a bladed article, one count of possession of an offensive weapon and one count of possession of a Class B drug. Neasham was found guilty of multiple rapes and sexual assaults against girls as young as 10 years old. INeasham, 64, from Londonderry Village in North Yorkshire was jailed for 28 years, which will be followed by a four-year extended licence. He has also been placed on the sex offenders list indefinitely and will need to serve at least two thirds of his custodial term before being eligible for release.

Sick Briggs, 43, was also given a two-year extended period on licence and he has been placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register. Briggs’ crimes were reported to police in June 2021 after the victim confided in family members and he was arrested shortly after. Read the full story here.

Terrifying thug Roache strangled a Doncaster woman, drove her to the side of the road and threw her into a ditch following a campaign of violent and controlling abuse. Roache, 36, grabbed his petrified victim by the throat, strangled her and repeatedly punched her. She was so scared the only way she could try to get him to stop was by biting him on his nose.

Overpowering her, he bundled her into his car and drove her to the roadside and flung her out of the car by her hair. Read the full story here. APRIL Keighley man Whittingham sent an indecent image of a child to her relative and filmed himself engaging in sexual contact with another in a sick crime spree.

Drug dealing couple Christian and Massey were jailed for a total of nine years after police found more than £100,000 worth of class A and B drugs at their home in Dagnan Crescent, Sheffield. Inside they found almost 1kg of heroin, worth an estimated street value of £100,000, 156 grams of cocaine with a street value between £6,000 and £15,600 and 1kg of cannabis, worth up to £5,000. Sick Selby man Devaney planted a hidden camera inside a toilet to spy on unassuming staff members working in York. Staff members found a pen with a camera inside it in a staff toilet and police identified 18 victims. In a victim personal statement read to York Crown Court, one woman said Devaney's actions had left her feeling "so degraded and violated.

" He was jailed for two years. Read the full story here. Couples Come Dine with Me contestant Smith was jailed for ten years after he caused the death of a teenager.

Oliver Pryde was killed while crossing a Kirkburton road. He was hit by Smith's Vauxhall Corsa just two weeks before his 19th birthday. Smith was found guilty of causing death by dangerous driving when unfit through drugs and causing death while unlicensed and uninsured.

Read the full story here. Hackin was jailed in April after he broke an order banning him from Huddersfield town centre less than a week after it was put in place. The 51-year-old had been located on Kirkgate by officers during the afternoon of April 17 - six days after being made subject to the order by Huddersfield Magistrates Court .

Hackin had been served with the five-year order due to causing persistent anti-social behaviour, often linked to alcohol, which caused distress to residents and shop staff. He was jailed for eight weeks. Read the full story here.

Sick Brown told police he had "f***** up" after trying to meet a teenager for sex. He had just gone through a divorce when he started talking to what he believed was a 13-year-old boy, that was actually a fake profile set up in the aim of snaring sex offenders. Brown arranged to meet the boy at his grandmother's house - and was arrested soon after he arrived there.

He was jailed for a year. Read the full story here. Drug dealing duo Banks and Emma Wilmot were jailed after £100,000 worth of cannabis was discovered by police at a Rotherham home.

Officers executed a warrant at Bridgewater Way where roughly 20kg of cannabis was seized. Banks had been in prison since April last year and was jailed for a further 18 months. Wilmot was handed a 12-month community order and ordered to attend 15 rehabilitation activity days.

During the second robbery, Taylor produced a butter knife and threatened to "smash" the female shop employee with it, but the cool-headed woman said: "You have to stop.

Banned driver Hirst was locked up for 15 months in April after he ignored the terrified pleas of his passenger as police chased the Ford Transit van he was driving onto the M62. They were heading back to Hemsworth when Hirst told his passenger that the police were following the van and he wasn’t going to stop because he was a banned driver. The vehicle reached speeds of over 90mph in a 50mph zone during the next 11 minutes and it was seen weaving in and out of busy traffic.

The vehicle struck one of the police patrol cars and it went spinning out of control. The van hit a sign before overturning and then landing the right way up. Read the full story here.

Thug Davis bombarded his on-off girlfriend with hundreds of messages and threatened to kill her and "chop her into bits." He was jailed for 14 months for threats to kill and assault by beating. Read the full story here.

Evil Huddersfield man Barker got himself "tanked up" in the pub before going to his ex-girlfriend's home and strangling her so hard she could not breathe. He turned violent when he became suspicious over another man and told her "I don't care if you can't breathe" during the terrifying attack. Barker was jailed for two years and three months.

Read the full story here. Doncaster thug Greaves held his ex-girlfriend hostage in a hotel for two days and threatened to "smash her head off the wall" and strangled her. He was wanted by police as he ordered the victim to meet him at a hotel in West Yorkshire.

It was there he turned violent and the woman's ordeal only came to an end when Greaves left with a friend. He was arrested and taken into custody after his victim bravely disclosed to a doctor what had happened to her. He was jailed for three years and nine months.

Read the full story here. Sick rapist Rhoden was jailed in April after a teenage girl bravely spoke about his "violent, sadistic and sustained sexual attack" at a bedsit in Whitby. Rhoden had lured the teenager to the room he was staying in after meeting her in town around 30 minutes before.

He then raped her and would not allow her to leave the property. The girl was eventually able to leave the address after around an hour and contacted friends who helped her to alert the police. He was jailed for 12 years.

Read the full story here. Bradford birthday boy Khan was jailed after he led police on a Fast and Furious-style pursuit after a break-in in Todmorden. He had been part of a group that had travelled to the area in the dead of night to burgle a property in Halifax Road while the householder was still asleep.

After breaking into the home the gang stole keys to a VW Golf and a VW Sirocco which were parked outside and all three cars were driven away in convoy at speed. A police pursuit took place and the VW Golf he was driving reached speeds of 100mph. Khan eventually dumped the car and was arrested nearby.

Rogers was "reckless and violent" as she stole bottles of Prosecco, tubs of Lurpack and luxury gift sets from a One Stop shop. She was banned but continued to steal and on her final visit attacked a member of staff by throwing jars of coffee at her and kicking and punching her. She was jailed for 24 weeks.

Pilkington stole Easter eggs, razor blades and beef roasting joints from supermarkets in Doncaster and was jailed for 42 weeks. Hamshaw stole five electric toothbrushes worth £390 in his trousers and coat and walked out without paying at a Tesco store. He was also caught stealing four bottles of alcohol worth £120 just days earlier.

He was jailed for four months. Read the full story here. Cherowbrier was handed 21 months in a Young Offenders' Institution after he led police on a 110mph chase and rammed officers.

He had stolen a Lexus and mobile phone and drove at speeds of 70mph in a 30mph zone before officers were alerted to his behaviour and gave chase. Cherowbrier, from Doncaster , tried to ram the police vehicle before the passenger decamped and fled the scene. He hit a traffic light and a quick-thinking officer was able to detain him.

Officers then told him: "You could have killed somebody. What is wrong with you?" Read the full story here. Dobson was jailed for three years and six months after he and his co-accused kept a temporary drug den at a Yorkshire hotel.

Lewis Benson was handed an 18-month suspended sentence for his part after officers raided a York hotel room booked in Dobson's name. When officers went inside, they found Benson and a large quantity of class A drugs, two mobile phones and a lock knife. Dobson later returned and was found to be in possession of a quantity of cash.

A staff member at the Greggs in Wakefield said she will "not tolerate" behaviour from those such as Hancock. He was jailed for three years. Read the full story here.

Bradford drug dealer Hussain had his existing jail sentence increased to ten years after a court heard he helped supply heroin and crack cocaine in a county lines operation. He was already serving an eight-year term. Read the full story here.

Registered sex offender Morgan tried to meet up with a 12-year-old boy - but he was actually messaging an undercover police officer. South Yorkshire Police said Morgan had an online conversation with who he believed to be the boy, and discussed engaging in sex acts before attempting to arrange a meeting. He also asked for photographs.

Sickeningly, Morgan offered to pick the child up from school and suggested going swimming with him in a pond. He was arrested from his vehicle on February 29 this year as he arrived at his home and was jailed in April for 11 months. Read the full story here.

Hammer-wielding thug Dabell and his friend Brooks were jailed in April. The pair approached a man and woman as they sat on an electric bike in Sheffield in July last year and attacked. Dabell put the man in a headlock, pushed his bike over and then attacked him with a claw hammer that was in his boot.

They threatened the woman as she tried to scream for help and stole her purse and house keys from her. Dabell was jailed for five years and Brooks for four. Read the full story here.

Jealous Pryce attacked his girlfriend with a gas cannister in a horrific Christmas Day attack after spotting her using her phone. Just a number of days later, he attacked again, punching the woman to the face. He was jailed for those two attacks, as well as a third, in April and was handed a sentence of two years.

Sheffield man Fenlon went on the run for six months after shooting through a door and attacking three people. He was finally jailed for seven years after the incident during which he shot through a glass pane of a door using a BB gun. He then went on to violently attack the three occupants of the property - two of which were just children aged 14 and 15 at the time.

After going on the run, he was finally arrested after handing himself in. Read the full story here. Birthday boy robber Richards who was out celebrating with his girlfriend told a taxi driver he was going to "do him" in a disagreement over fare.

He had a "tussle" with the driver who had charged him £10 for a journey from Wakefield to Knottingley. Richards wrestled a bag of money which contained around £70 in cash from the taxi driver. He was jailed for two years.

Wright was jailed for three years and 10 months in April after he caused the death of one of his passengers in a road collision in Kirklees. He was driving a Hyundai Terracan with five passengers when he lost control and the vehicle left the road. Cowardly Wright fled the scene, leaving Curtis Dominik to die.

He was "sitting on" cash and drugs at a house in the city when police stopped a BMW and arrested its driver, recovering drugs. It was when they went to a property they found Ajmal sitting next to a bowl containing remnants of white powder. Months later another property was searched and Ajmal was found there again.

Ajmal was in possession of cash and two mobile phones. A white iPhone found on him was downloaded, and messages said in court to be between him and his girlfriend showed evidence of his involvement in the drugs trade. He was jailed for four years.

Read the full story here. Prison manager at HMP Doncaster Miller had a secret relationship with an inmate, and then tried to intimidate her colleagues into silence. In early 2023, staff noticed how she had become close with one inmate - she had been seen in his cell and spent long periods of time in there with him.

Later, the pair were regularly seen together in the lift. Suspicions began to grow, particularly when the inmate was given privileges other prisoners were not. Miller became aware of these suspicions and intimidated staff into silence, leaving them feeling unable to speak out.

When she resigned, an investigation began and it was established she was in phone communication with the inmate where their relationship was discussed. She was jailed for nine months. Read the full story here.

Nightclub predator Adam sexually assaulted a man and then tried to rape a woman as they used the toilets in Wakefield's Truth nightclub. The man managed to push him away before Adam turned his attentions to the woman and nearly carried out the full offence until two women intervened and got security staff. He was made the subject of an extended sentence, made up of a seven-year custodial sentence and a three-year extended licence period.
