There were plenty of remarkable local accomplishments in the sports world in 2024 – both individually and from teams. However, as we look back on the calendar year, it became clear that one thing stood out – the success of the young women who made up the Pleasant Valley High School athletic programs. Calling 2024 the “Year of the Spartans” is an appropriate tag as five girls’ sports programs at PV won state titles.
It was a remarkable run that may never be duplicated, as the Spartans now hold titles from the calendar year in golf, track & field, softball, cross country and volleyball. The Spartans were also state quarterfinalists in girls’ basketball, girls’ tennis and girls’ soccer in their most recently completed seasons. To say the least, the Spartans have enjoyed epic success.
