On two occasions singer Nigy Boy auditioned to participate in the television singing competition The Voice. After all, another Jamaican, Tessanne Chin, had won the title in 2013. However, he didn’t make it past the interview phase of the competition.

“I first auditioned during the heights of the pandemic while I was attending college and living on campus. I sent in an audition video and they didn’t get back to me. About a year later I sent in another audition video and this time they got back to me and told me that I was going on to the next level, and I filled out some forms that they sent to me.



I then moved onto the interview phase, and I was happy and excited, but I didn’t make it any further. It was a learning experience,” Nigy Boy told the Jamaica Observer in a recent interview in Florida. But 2024 would prove to be the year for Nigy Boy’s musical career, as late last year when he hopped on to music producer Rvssian’s Dutty Money rhythm, he scored big with Continent .

He later followed up with another Rvssian-produced ditty, this time it was Judgement on the Payment Plan rhythm. And then he scored another hit with Nomad , produced by DJ Frass. Along the journey in 2024, Nigy Boy performed at several events both locally and overseas.

He was recognised by several entities, including the New York Assembly, the Mayor of Montego Bay, and he also received a citation at this year’s staging of Reggae Sumfest. “My best memory of 2024, that’s hard to say. So m.
