DEVILS LAKE, N.D. — Devils Lake will be the headquarters for the North Dakota Angus Association’s fall angus tour, which will take angus industry folks across the northeastern portion of the state.

The tour, which takes place every other year, functions with the goal of promoting angus ranches in North Dakota and showcasing their differences, said Ashley Bruner, the association’s secretary/treasurer. “It’s a really cool event where people can come on an angus tour, but see multi-levels of angus cattle,” she said. “Angus can be different and can fit everybody’s operation depending upon what your desire is for your own herd.

So, you might be in the same region, but the angus cattle may vary from ranch to ranch. It’s a great opportunity for the ranches themselves to share what they’ve got and really show off what makes their operation different or unique.” ADVERTISEMENT The tour will begin on Saturday, Sept.

14, at the Fireside Inn & Suites in Devils Lake with registration and a social gathering. There will be a “brisket and all the fixings” dinner, Bruner said, for $50 a ticket. The North Dakota Angus Auxiliary will be hosting fundraiser events, such as an auction, alongside a tour of CoJACK Snack & Pack and Black Paws Brewing Company.

The two following days will take attendees across the region to different ranches. The tour will hit 14 ranches, Bruner said, and North Dakota Junior Angus members will be hosting a poker run alongside it, giving participants a card at each stop. The winner at the end of each day will get a prize.

The North Dakota Angus Association, which started in 1942, works to promote the breed’s presence in the state and has 228 members. Bruner said she expects approximately 150 people to register for the tour, and has counted people from six states as well as Canada pre-registered so far. This is the fourth tour she has helped plan, and she said she’s excited for each stop.

There will be lunch and dinner stops, she said, all serving certified angus beef. “One of the highlights of any type of tour like this is always the food,” she said. “You never go away hungry.

” Each stop will be different, and it has been amazing to see the tour come together through the two years of planning, Bruner said. “For anybody interested in the cattle industry, whether you're a cattle producer or an industry partner, it's just nice to get out and visit with the cattle producers,” she said. “See what they're doing.

Hopefully it's good weather. We’ve gotten lucky the last several tours where we've had some beautiful weather.” Tickets for those pre-registering by Aug.

31 cost $75 per person and $100 after Aug. 31. Attendees under 18 are free but need to be registered.
