2024 Logie Awards WINNERS: Larry Emdur takes home his first ever Logie while Rebecca Gibney is inducted into the hall of fame and Boy Swallows Universe leads the way with four wins READ MORE: LIVE Raygun makes shock appearance at the Logies - as comedian Sam Pang opens ceremony with a VERY cheeky dig By Kate Dennett For Daily Mail Australia Published: 13:37, 18 August 2024 | Updated: 13:43, 18 August 2024 e-mail View comments Larry Emdur secured his first ever Logie Award at the 2024 ceremony in Sydney on Sunday night as he lead the celebrity winners. The TV star, 59, has been a recognisable face on Aussie screens since the age of 19, but has never before secured a win at the prestigious awards ceremony. In a milestone victory, Larry was crowned as the most popular presenter as he took home the Bert Newton Award in his first ever Logies win.

He beat his fellow TV veterans Hamish Blake , Julia Morris , Sonia Kruger and Tony Armstrong , as well as newcomer Robert Irwin to the award. In his acceptance speech, Larry joked that the victory was bittersweet because he had put an $1,000 bet on his rival Robert, 20, taking home the award. 'Oh, wow! Thank you.

Thank you. This is lovely recognition, recognition for me is usually someone yelling out on the street, ''come on down, you wanker'',' he joked. 'This is really lovely.

It's also a horrible, horrible night, because I had a thousand bucks on Robert. Thank you.' Larry was supported by his wife of almost 30 years Sylvie on the big night and the pair looked as loved-up as ever as they stormed the red carpet.

Larry Emdur secured his first ever Logie Award at the 2024 ceremony in Sydney on Sunday night as he lead the celebrity winners Larry is also up for the esteemed Gold Logie and admitted he was shocked to nab a nomination while speaking to Daily Mail Australia on the red carpet. When asked for his plans if he wins, he replied: 'You're about 200 steps ahead of me! I have no plans in relation to that at all. It's been a funny campaign, but it's been a ridiculous campaign.

' He went on to comment on his humorous and self-deprecating voting campaign, insisting he told Channel Seven he would only do it if he could 'take the p***'. When asked for his big afterparty plans, Larry quipped that he was most exciting about visiting the kebab shop near the luxury venue, The Star Sydney. 'Sylvie said ''shall we go for a nice, romantic glass of champagne somewhere?'' and I said ''I've found a kebab shop'',' he added.

Elsewhere, Netflix hit series Boy Swallows Universe also cleaned up on the night, taking home an impressive four awards. Bryan Brown took home the Silver Logie for best supporting actor while Sophie Wilde won best supporting actress and the series as a whole also nabbed best miniseries. However, the most memorable moment was when lead actor Felix Cameron broke down in tears while accepting his first ever award at the Logies.

The actor, 15, took home his first ever Logie after soaring to global fame in Netflix 's hit series Boy Swallows Universe and appeared overwhelmed by his epic win. Scooping up the Graham Kennedy Award for most popular new talent, an emotional Felix gave a very tearful acceptance speech as he was cheered on by the audience. 'I'd like to thank my friends, family, my brother and my sister and my mum and dad,' he said during his speech, prompting sympathetic cooing from the crowds.

Choking back tears, he went on: 'I'd like to thank my dramaturg Nadia Townsend, I couldn't have done it without you.' Felix then became completely overcome with emotion as he broke down in tears, telling the audience: 'I'm so sorry.' The crowds broke into rapturous applause as they showed their support for the teenage actor, spurring him on to finish his speech.

Viewers also took to X - formerly known as Twitter - to gush over Felix's 'beautiful' speech, admitting it had moved them to tears.
