Kota: Kota rural and city police seized over 201 kg of poppy husk at three separate places in Sangod, Deoli Manji police stations of the district, and Bhimganjmandi police station in the city on Tuesday. They arrested six smugglers – two in each case – who were produced before courts at respective places on Wednesday. The courts sent them to police custody for interrogation.

A police team from Sangod police station in the district, during routine vehicle checks on late Tuesday evening, confiscated 95 kg of poppy husk packed in plastic bags in a car and arrested two persons, identified as Gajendra and Lalchand, both residents of Baran district. A police team was checking vehicles at Nagalhedi Chaurah in Sangod town on Tuesday late evening when a car and the two persons inside it appeared suspicious, SHO at Sangod police station Laakhan Singh said. Upon searching the vehicle, 5-6 plastic bags were found containing poppy husk, which weighed around 95 kg, he added.



In the initial inquiry, the two accused said they had loaded the drug from Baran and were heading to Kota, he said. In another drug seizure, a team from Deoli-Manji police station seized around 85 kg of poppy husk from a car during routine vehicle checks in the area on Tuesday evening and arrested two persons, identified as Kamesh and Mukesh, residents of Baran district. A police team from Bhimganjmandi police station during patrolling of the area held two suspected persons at the parking site of Kota railway station on Tuesday night.
