Even though we're still enjoying the sunny weather that summer brings, we can't help but think ahead to fall. Fuzzy socks, pumpkin-spice candles , spooky home decor, and fall nails are calling our names. We love sporting bright lipsticks and nail-polish shades in the summer, but after a while, it's hard to stop dreaming of all of the amazing manicures we can create with our fall nail colors .

Chrome french manicures , abstract designs in neutral tones, and "naked" nails are just a few of the fall nail designs that ruled our mood boards last year. This year, you can expect to see fingertips and Instagram feeds filled with a few of last year's trends, as well as all-new designs, like quartz nails , cat-eye nails , and more. The trendiest designs will range from neutral, barely there colors , like beiges, to more autumnal hues, like reds, browns, and green, and even out-of-the-box shades, like powdered blues.

You can't go wrong with a plain and simple manicure if you're still into the quiet luxury aesthetic, but if you want to carry brat summer into fall, there are also plenty of fun, statement-making fall nail designs to play with if that's more fitting for you. Brittney Boyce is a celebrity nail artist and founder of Nails of LA . Orange Nails Orange nails are a fall staple, and the color has only grown in popularity over the last few years. Orange manicures have been seen on everyone from our favorite celebrities to popular influencers.

There are plenty of different tones to choose from — you can opt for a bright orange or something more muted and moody. Quartz Nails If this year's New York Fashion Week taught us anything, it's that quartz nails are going to have a moment. The pared-down manicure was seen on the runway at Prabal Gurung's show, which was created by manicurist Gina Edwards using Kiss nail products.

They're made to mimic the look of the mineral quartz, and our prediction is that they just might replace everyone's obsession with chrome. Red Nails Red nails are always a fun fall staple. Yes, the shade is perfect for warm vacations, but deeper berry hues are great for welcoming the cooler weather that comes in October.

Some people might even say red is a neutral (we're "some people"). Check out our best red nail polish guide for inspiration you can bring with you to your next salon appointment. Maple Syrup Nails Maple-syrup nails are going to be huge this fall — especially if Hailey Bieber has anything to say about it.

The founder and new mom recently stepped out with a maple-syrup manicure, and the moody brown tones looked good enough to eat. The shade is perfect for welcoming fall with open arms. Cat-Eye Nails Cat-eye nails are great for fall and can be worn as a festive detail on Halloween.

They require a little bit of work to get right so if you aren't skilled on the DIY front, make sure you enlist a licensed professional to help you nail it (pun intended) correctly. Tortoiseshell Nails Tortoiseshell nails are a fun fall nail design because they incorporate some of our favorite fall colors, like brown, cream, and even orange. You can opt for a full tortoise shell look, or you can go for a twist on a french manicure like this example.

Fall Floral Nails Floral manicures aren't one of your typical fall nail designs, but when you combine them with a classic fall color like brown or burnt orange, they immediately become one of our favorite easy fall nail designs out there. This example is a bit more involved and requires some skill to master, but you can always bring this photo with you to your next nail appointment and ask a professional for help. 13 of the Best Lip Plumpers, According to Our Editors Dotted Nails If you aren't a huge fan of fall colors in large quantities, why not opt for a design that incorporates fall tones in a more low-key way? This example is done with dotted artwork in shades of light brown, tan, dark brown, and white.

These actually make for the perfect fall acrylic nails if you're looking to add extra length. Swirly Geode Nails This fall nail art features a swirling design that connects multiple fingers. The base shade is a creamy nude and the layered swirl on top features brown, white, and even chrome.

Chrome Nails While we do think quartz is going to be huge this season, we can't forget about chrome entirely. While we don't think we'll see a ton of pastels or bright shades, we do think we'll see a lot of brown, nudes, and tan colors that are perfect for those seeking easy fall nails. Accent Finger Nails These short fall nails feature different fall shades, like orange, tan, and brown, plus one accent nail with fun fall florals.

If you can't do the accent nail art on your own, you can always opt for nail stickers. Sweater Nails Sweater nails are always a fun cozy-weather staple, but even more so when they're in fall colors. This example is perfect for fall acrylic nail lovers, and features brown, orange, green, and yellow tones.

Checkered Nails A checkered manicure is anything but basic. You can opt to do a two-tone look as this person did, or you could even go for different fall-colored checkers on each finger. Shadow French Nails Shadow french nails are always fun, especially when they have a fall twist.

This example features fun fall tones that make them the perfect cute fall nails. Plus, we love the swirly accent fingers. 14 Beetlejuice Nail Ideas For Spooky Season Ombré Nails These fall ombré nails are stunning, and they feature all of our favorite fall colors, like green, orange, yellow, and brown.

This look can also be done with one shade on each finger, or you can change things up as this person did and do a different color for each. Aura Nails One of our favorite fall nail art ideas is aura nails , which "mimic the colors of the body's chakras and energy color fields," Rita Pinto, founder of Vanity Projects nail salon, previously told PS. "It's very New Age meets Gen Z because the colors of the manicures are way more interpretive and expansive than the usual aura-chart colors.

I've also heard them be referred to as 'color trips' in the salon by clients." Swirl Nails When you can't make up your mind on what to get at the nail salon, go with something abstract. "Think thin lines [and] swirls," Rojas says.

Swirl nail art specifically, has been rising in popularity in recent months. This fall update replaces the flowers, smiley faces, fruit, and rainbow designs that we typically gravitate toward in the summer. Naked Nails Naked nails are a classic choice for fall, or any season, really.

"We saw the early phases of this trend take root with the rise of the 'invisible' manicure," Nadine Abramcyk, founder of Tenoverten says. "People have grown an appreciation for natural nails, the equivalent to the no-makeup look." Chrome French Manicure Chrome french manicures have been trending all summer, and they won't be going away for fall.

Instead of bright, neon chrome hues, expect to see this trend take on a moodier look with silver, gold, and even dark-blue tips. "Chrome is having a moment in fashion right now, with glam goth and futuristic, sci-fi-influenced fashion all featuring a ton of reflective silver," Brittney Boyce, celebrity nail artist and founder of Nails of LA, previously told PS. "That, of course, translates to nails.

Chrome french tips, in particular, add this edginess to a very feminine, soft, and classic nail look." Dark French Manicures If history has proven anything, it's that french manicures will never go out of style. To give this summer staple a fall makeover, just switch up the colors you use.

"We can expect to see french manicures with black, deep red, and neutral-colored tips," Rojas says. "French manicures also work on a variety of nail shapes and lengths, so it's a trend that's here to stay." — Additional reporting by Renee Rodriguez Jessica Harrington is the senior beauty editor at PS, where she writes about hair, makeup, skin care, piercings, tattoos, and more.
