Pune: A 16-year-old student revealed her horrific sexual exploitation over the past six months by two senior and two junior college students in the counselling session of a junior college in the city last week, against the backdrop of the Badlapur incident. Her videos were also posted on social media. She started getting unwelcome and obscene calls thereafter, police said.
The Koregaon Park police arrested the two senior students (both aged 20 years) and detained the two junior students (both 16 years old) on Wednesday on charges of repeated rape, stalking, sexual harassment and offences under the relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Information Technology Act. One of the detained junior students is the survivor's college-mate. The other three are from different colleges, the police said.
The four youngsters became friends with the survivor at different points in time after initially chatting on a photo- and video-sharing social networking site. The suspects were strangers to each other, the police said. The father of one of the teenagers was a techie and the other teenager had been raised by a single mother — an employee of a private company, the police said.
Of the two senior college students, one belongs to a tempo driver's family and the other hails from a domestic help's family. Deputy commissioner of police (Zone II) Smartana Patil told TOI, "One of the close friends of the survivor told the counsellor during the ses.
