Looking for a scenic destination to bring the family for a picnic? While Connecticut has no shortage of beautiful parks and forests to choose from, a pair of locales ranked among Mixbook.com’s Top Hidden Gem Picnic Spots . The survey was taken with 3,000 respondents to “rank the ultimate off-the-radar picnic spots across America,” according to Mixbook.

First from Connecticut to make the list was Elizabeth Park in West Hartford, which came in at 61st. Its rose garden, beautiful landscaping and classic New England atmosphere make for an ideal setting for a picnic, as well as offering many quieter picnic spots, according to a survey. Enders State Forest in Granby was Connecticut’s other hidden gem, ranking at 83rd.



“Beautiful waterfalls and secluded picnic areas” coupled with all the appeal of a lush forest make for “a perfect spot for a quiet family picnic,” according to Mixbook. Curious what hidden gems made the top ten? Here is the full list:.
