Two candidates have officially filed an application to challenge Duane Crocker in the upcoming Victoria mayoral election, the Victoria City Council revealed Tuesday. The mayoral and city council election in Victoria is set for May 3, 2025. City Council Member for Super District 6 Mark Loffgren and Dr.
Andrew Young for Super District 5 have filed their intent to challenge Crocker during this year’s election. Other Victoria residents who wish to place their name on the mayoral ballot may do so until Feb. 14.
Those candidates can obtain an application at the city secretary’s office on 105 W. Juan Linn Street. More information on the election can be found at victoriatx.
gov/198/Elections . Crocker was elected as mayor of Victoria on Feb. 3, 2024, following former Mayor Jeff Bauknight’s announcement to run for the Texas House of Representatives and subsequent resignation.
Crocker, who was sworn in on Feb. 20, defeated five other opponents in the 2024 mayoral election. Crocker garnered 2,499 votes, or 61.
4% of the vote. His closest competitor, {span}Josephine Soliz, garnered 825 votes or 20.27 %.
