The Patterson High School cross country team made their annual trip to the fun, exciting and highly anticipated Hughson Supercross Invitational on Saturday. This cross-country meet is famous and beloved by many athletes, coaches and spectators as this race gives athletes a unique way to enjoy their discipline by getting dirty and jumping into a mud pit. The sounds of oo’s and ahh’s roared as athletes approached the mud pit and slipped and slid, putting smiles on the faces of athletes and spectators.

Many Patterson athletes placed within the top ten and even earned a medal. For the Junior Varsity boys’ squad, Carlos Romero placed third in the meet, winning the third-place medal, with a time of 15:25 in the 4,000-meter race. Right after Romero finished, another Patterson athlete crossed the finish line placing fourth, Milton Gonzalez took fourth place with a time of 15:30 putting Patterson on the leaderboards.



However, for the Junior Varsity girls’ squad, another two Patterson athletes placed within the top ten giving the team an edge on the scorecards. Emma Velasco placed sixth in the 4,000-meter with a time of 18:48, and in similar fashion to the JV boys, right after Velasco came Daniela Carrasco placed seventh with a time of 19:02. Next, we see the Tiger cross country program on the road, the Tigers will run Saturday, Oct.
