Tucked away in our archives for years, these fascinating photographs offer a glimpse into life in Liverpool in the 70s, 80s and 90s. A huge landmark in the city, many will remember how decades ago life at The Albert Dock couldn't have been more different. When it comes to long-standing businesses, What's Cooking? is located in the Grade 1 listed Queen Elizabeth Hall and is now the longest serving restaurant in Royal Albert Dock, first opening in 1984 amidst a huge regenerations.

When it comes to new businesses also thriving in the ara, bar Burnt Milk Hotel is currently being transformed into a new cocktail bar - Bar Glue . But many will have seen how much the area has changed since these images were taken. The ECHO recently took a look back at the area in the 1980s as it's now been 40 years since Liverpool's Albert Dock officially re-opened after an extensive regeneration .

Unseen for years, the earliest images shows Albert Dock in 1978, with the most recent being taken now over 30 years ago in 1993. From aerial shots to when the site was derelict, new businesses and members of the general public, these images are bound to stir some memories and remind you of how life used to be in the city during these decades.
