Travel agency Hays Travel notes that the Canary Islands – the traditional winter sun destination for British heat-seekers – is still proving popular, along with Cape Verde and Asia , as well as Caribbean cruises. At a time when overtourism is become more apparent – as seen in the Canary Islands protests last weekend – and the quest to visit destinations before everyone else cottons on is more attractive than ever, some interesting alternatives to mainstays such as the Canaries and Gulf states are coming into focus.
