Sunday, March 23, 2025 Bangkok Airways , a prominent regional carrier in Thailand, is set to expand its fleet significantly over the next few years. The airline has confirmed plans to acquire at least 30 new aircraft, as reported by Bloomberg. This move comes in response to the growing demand for air travel, particularly in Thailand, which is expected to see a record number of tourists in 2025.

The success of HBO’s hit series T he White Lotus, which has boosted global interest in the country, is one of the major factors behind this surge in tourism. The CEO of Bangkok Airways , Puttipong Prasarttong-Osoth, shared that the airline is currently negotiating with major aircraft manufacturers, including Airbus, Boeing, and Embraer. They are particularly looking at acquiring 20 single-aisle aircraft in the first half of the year, with the potential for an additional 10 planes.

This expansion will not only modernize their fleet but also enhance their capacity to handle the increasing passenger traffic expected in the coming years. The airline’s current fleet consists of 25 aircraft, which includes Airbus A319 and A320 jets, as well as ATR 72-600 turboprops. These planes primarily cater to regional routes.

Despite their operational efficiency, the fleet’s average age of 15.1 years shows that the airline is now looking to modernize its fleet. Bangkok Airways also awaits the delivery of 10 ATR 42-600 turboprops, which will further bolster their regional operations.
