Monday, March 24, 2025 The long-awaited Atlantis Resort in Ko Olina, West Oahu, is finally moving forward, promising transformative growth for Hawaii’s tourism industry. Recently, China Oceanwide Holdings officially transferred about 44 acres of prime oceanfront land to California-based Kam Sang Co. Inc.
, marking a significant milestone toward establishing the first-ever Atlantis Resort in the United States. The master-planned Ko Olina Resort area, currently about 50% developed, anticipates significant economic impact from this new development. According to hospitality consulting firm HVS, completing Ko Olina’s build-out, including the Atlantis Resort, could generate approximately $9.
5 billion for Hawaii’s economy, more than $300 million in annual taxes, and around 40,000 permanent jobs. Kam Sang Co. Inc.
has committed to being the lead developer for the Atlantis Resort, previously planned in partnership between Kerzner International and China Oceanwide. Besides the Atlantis brand, Kam Sang is also exploring other luxury hospitality brands such as the Regent, Mandarin Oriental, St. Regis, Waldorf Astoria, and Fairmont to maximize the site’s potential.
