New Delhi: The Cabinet on Friday approved two major projects for poll-bound Bihar at an estimated cost of nearly Rs 10,000 crore — the Kosi-Mechi Intra-State River Link and construction of 4-lane access controlled greenfield and brownfield Patna–Arrah–Sasaram highway — which are likely to be completed in the next 3-4 years. Announcing the decision, I&B minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the river link projectwill be completed by March, 2029. The Centre will provide Rs 3,652.

6 crore financial support to Bihar for completion of the project, which would entail a total expenditure of Rs 6,282 crore. tnn “We are committed to the all-round development of Bihar,” PM Narendra Modi said in a post on X. He added while the river linking project will provide water for irrigation in a large area, it will also increase farmers’ income.
