New Delhi: The Cabinet on Friday approved the 2% increase in the Dearness Allowance (DA) to central govt employees and dearness relief (DR) to pensioners with effect from January 1, 2025. This will benefit over 1.1 crore central govt employees and pensioners.
The combined impact on the exchequer on account of increase in DA and DR would be Rs 6,614 crore per annum, I&B minister Ashwini Vaishnaw told reporters. The last DA and DR hike was in July 2024 when these were raised to 53% from 50%. The increase is in accordance with the accepted formula, which is based on the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission .
