Eurovision fever is coming to Manchester in spectacular style - with a huge event and festival taking place across the city featuring a yellow catwalk, drag shows and a ‘never seen before’ music extravaganza. The teams behind Manchester Eurovision Party (MEF) and Copenhagen’s MalmöHagen Festival have joined forces to create MancHagen - the world’s biggest Eurovision celebration outside of the official Switzerland live shows week. Running from April 10 to 13, the event will feature appearances from the likes of drag royalty Danny Beard , Choriza May and Blu Hydrangea, and Eurovision favourites like the UK's 2000 star Nicki French, Linda Martin, the 1992 winner for Ireland, and Keiino, who represented Norway in 2019.
There will also be 2024 stars, like Silvester Belt and Aiko, too. It will also be an opportunity for Eurovision fans to meet some of the yet-to-be-announced artists representing their country this year ahead of the semi-final and grand final 2025 events in Switzerland in May. For Kris Hague, who has organised the MEF event for the last 20 years, the event promises to be something that the city - and Eurovision fans across the world - have never seen before.
“It’s the perfect time for Manchester to host something like this,” Kris tells the Manchester Evening News . “We feel that the city has been desperate for an Eurovision event of this scale for a very long time now. We want to capture and bring back that spirit and energy that was in Liverpool b.
