DICKINSON — There is nothing better than a good old-fashioned rivalry matchup in sports, especially when the stakes are high. For the Trinity Titans, it was a chance to earn a huge Region 4 win against their bitter rivals in the Beulah Miners. Both teams were 9-3 heading into Tuesday, with the Titans holding the edge in the standings.

Historically, this matchup has come down to the final horn, separating by just one or two possessions. This time around, the red-and-white shut down the Miners’ offense and routed them, 52-35. ADVERTISEMENT The win marks Trinity’s fifth-straight and 10th of the campaign.



The Titans executed their gameplan to perfection. One of the keys of their blueprint was to shut down the highly touted junior guard Braylen Schirado. While he ended up recording 20 points in the game, he wasn’t as noticeable as he has been all season.

Another point of emphasis in the game was playing aggressively inside the paint. The Titans dominated in the interior and were able to muster up lots of rebounds on the offensive side of the ball, and more importantly capitalize on them. Senior forward Nick Sobolik led the Titans with 14 points and was another player who dominated inside the paint.

While he led the way on offense, The senior captain credited his fellow classmate, senior point guard Kaden Ham, for being a force on defense and shutting down another top gun for the Miners. Eighth-grader Philip Weidner was held off the scoresheet because of Ham’s play in the.
