BARRE – Spaulding’s lineup wasn’t 100% healthy but the Crimson Tide’s on-court performance was robust and up for the challenge during Tuesday’s 54-35 girls basketball victory over Peoples Academy. Rory-Anne Glassford (14 points) was one of four players who reached double figures for the Granite City squad, which snapped the Wolves’ six-game winning streak. Taylor Keel wound up with 12 points, six steals and nine rebounds in the winning effort and teammate Quinn Premont scored a season-high 11 points Sophie Guarriello (10 points, six steals) was another lethal weapon for the Tide, who used a 19-7 run in the second quarter to grab all the momentum.

Sophie Beck (12 points), Daisy Berg (11 points) and Sadie Baranyay (10 points) delivered high-quality showings for PA. “We didn’t come out playing the way we hoped to,” Spaulding coach Tanya MacAuley said. “I could feel it in the locker room: We’ve had a lot of sickness and people were not feeling the best tonight.

Taylor Keel was a little sick the last two games and it’s going through our team. So low energy was a thing happening right before the game, but in the second quarter we found a little momentum. They sat at halftime for a minute and weren’t feeling great again, and we didn’t come out the best in the third quarter.

But eventually we started taking our time again instead of rushing. Peoples’ defense is great and they’re very aggressive. We just had to settle down and be patient and run our off.
