Rihanna will always let A$AP Rocky stand under her umbrella. The Fenty Beauty founder stepped out to support the "Sundress" rapper at his trial over 2022 assault charges in Los Angeles on Jan. 29.
For her appearance at Los Angeles Superior Court, Rihanna—who shares sons RZA Athelston , 2, and Riot Rose , 17 months , with A$AP—wore an all-black ensemble. A$AP—whose real name is Rakim Mayers —is currently standing trial after being charged with two felony counts of assault in 2022 over an alleged altercation with his former friend Terell Ephron . During the 2021 incident, Terell—a member of A$AP's former music group A$AP Collective who releases music under the moniker A$AP Relli —alleged that the "Fashion Killa" rapper fired a handgun at him on a Hollywood sidewalk.
"You will hear that throughout their relationship there was tension between the two of them," Terell's lawyer Paul Przelomiec said during a Jan. 28 court appearance, per Associated Press , "and that tension was essentially building up to the night of Nov. 6, 2021.
" As for A$AP, the 36-year-old denies the allegations and has pleaded not guilty to the charges, ABC News 7 reported. If he's convicted, he could face up to 24 years in prison, according to the outlet. "This case is about one man's jealousy, lies and greed—and that man is not Rocky," A$AP's attorney Joe Tacopina said during his opening statement in court Jan.
