IT IS fair to say that the weekend that has passed was one to remember and not for good reason! Storm Éowyn left a major dent in our memory following the destruction that it left in its wake. While I was lucky enough to have not lost power, some of the beautiful trees in my garden and in neighbouring gardens fell. I am around for 74 years and I have never in all my life heard such ferocious winds.
What a nightmare! My son Ivan and daughter-in-law Asta who is my right-hand woman in the Holman Lee Agency, as well as their three beautiful grandchildren, lost all of their essential resources at their home, as did my daughter Cecile and her beautiful family. I sat at home worried sick but, thankfully, they got it back quickly. READ ALSO: Bridal exhibition a shining success I was fortunate enough to not have lost electricity or water but my thoughts and prayers are with all of those thousands of people who are yet to have essential services restored.
Nothing did me only to walk around my cherished city of Limerick to clear my mind of stress and while I was utterly apprehensive of the damage I would see after the storm, I was pleasantly surprised that all was relatively calm. Having only gotten over the snow and the aftermath of the extremely cold weather, I couldn’t believe it when we were hit with Éowyn! However, all is looking bright as we head into February and officially the start of Spring. I hope the weather picks up to reflect the seasonal change - it will be uplifting.
