I t may be freezing outside, but I am already embracing spring’s style updates, albeit with a giant coat over the top. January can feel like a fashion wasteland. I met a friend for breakfast this week and she was wearing a cashmere tracksuit under her chic double-faced wool coat.
But taking sartorial cues from the thermostat won’t help with the birthday dinner party I’ve been invited to this coming weekend, or my own birthday plans in a week’s time. I could wear all black to both, or perhaps a pair of enormous jumpers. But because I am sick of all of the above by this point in winter, and because my wardrobe affects my mood, I instead take an early adopter’s approach to the new.
