Swinging a golf club inside the house is one of the many things I do that infuriates my wife. On the latest occasion, she politely asked me twice not to practise in the kitchen because I could break something (again). After I ignored her request, I opened Instagram and put on a tune to help me with my session: “ If you want to fix your sway, you gotta push away.
” My wife interjected for a third time, but this time, with a question: “Hey! What song is that?” The song is one of Jake Hutt catchy, golf instruction-related tunes. The PGA professional from Menlo Park, Calif., creates tracks in which the lyrics explain a swing tip or drill.
His music-centred style of golf instruction has helped him amass almost 500,000 followers on Instagram. “I’ve always loved music,” said Hutt in a recent interview. “In high school, my buddies and I would make stupid rap songs.
I’ve just always loved making music. I did some remix competitions. There was this website where bands would post all the stems to their songs and you would just totally redo them and take the vocals, it was fun.
” A post shared by Jake Hutt, PGA (@jakehuttgolf) Growing up in the Bay Area, Hutt’s other big passion was an unlikely one: hockey. “My mom’s whole side of the family is from northern Minnesota, so my cousins all played. They were really good,” said Hutt.
“I played for the San Jose Junior Sharks and loved it. It was all I cared about. I wanted to play in the NHL or at least play as lon.
