Ladies and gentlemen, one of fashion world's biggest questions has officially been answered! After iconic designer John Galliano bowed out of Maison Margiela in December, his position has been filled by none other than Diesel's creative director, Glenn Martens. The news of Glenn Marten taking the reins at Margiela was officially shared by OTB Group, with Renzo Rosso, the chairman, expressing his confidence in Martens’ abilities. Rosso, who has worked with the Belgian designer for years, highlighted Martens' impressive talent and vision, even pointing out Martens’ shared background with the house’s founder, Martin Margiela, having studied at Antwerp’s Royal Academy of Fine Arts.
“After Martin, who gave life to the Maison and its unique Artisanal line, and John, who made it the most cutting-edge couture house in the world, I am proud to have a third couturier at its helm,” Rosso said in a news release. Glenn Martens has expressed his gratitude too, stating, "I feel extremely honoured to join the amazing Maison Margiela, a truly unique house that has been inspiring the world for decades. And I thank Renzo for the trust he is putting in me.
” Martens’ appointment at the Maison has been widely anticipated, especially following his departure from Y/Project in 2024. Apart from designing killer jeans at Diesel, Martens spent over a decade shaping Y/Project into one of the most innovative and talked-about names in fashion. His bold and unconventional designs, earned him.
