Looks like, just as Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, didn’t get the dress code memo for the White House, comedian and actor Adam Sandler didn’t get it for the 2025 Oscars! But we aren’t complaining. Sandler’s appearance reminded us of one of the most controversial and perhaps strangest episodes that took place in the White House’s Oval Office—when Zelenskyy was confronted by Brian Glenn, chief White House correspondent for the conservative cable network Real America’s Voice. “Why don’t you wear a suit? You’re at the highest level in this country’s office, and you refuse to wear a suit,” Glenn asked Zelenskyy.
“Do you own a suit? A lot of Americans have a problem with you not respecting the dignity of this office,” he continued. Well, at the 2025 Oscars, the actor and comedian, known for his casual style, made an unexpected fashion statement. The Academy Awards, or Oscars, is a formal black-tie event.
This means men are expected to wear tuxedos or suits, and women are expected to wear formal gowns. But Sandler showed up in a baby blue zip-up Aviator Nation hoodie with basketball shorts, catching the attention of host Conan O’Brien. “Adam, what are you wearing?” O’Brien asked Sandler from the stage.
“You’re dressed like a guy playing video poker at 2 a.m.” He added, “For such a prestigious night, it’s important that everyone is properly dressed.
” To which Sandler shouted back, “I like the way I look because I’m a goo.
